Described by The Times as 'one of the most exciting violinists of her generation', 25-year old Julia Fischer has already achieved great acclaim for her talent, including the title of 'Gramophone Artist of the Year' in 2007 and 'Best Newcomer' by BBC Music Magazine in 2006 for her performance of Bach's solo Sonatas and Partitas.
Now through the release of her first album on the Decca label, Julia Fischer is primed to set a new benchmark for Bach recordings. Joined by the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and guest soloists, Alexander Sitkovetsky and Andrey Rubtsov, Julia's new album of 'Bach Concertos' is due for UK release on 2nd February.
To coincide with the album release and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Julia Fischer will also be directing and performing a programme of Bach's Violin Concertos, plus music by Britten and Walton alongside the Academy musicians at London's Cadogan Hall on Sunday 8th February.
