Small savings

Options
I have jsut been given £1000 which I want to put into a savings account. Can anyone tell me the best way forward. I don't need immediate access to it but would like to be able to get it for future events

    look into a cash ISA if you havent already filled it this year.

    if its your first time, look for some safety in one of the better known high street banks / building societies - you may sacrifice rates for "safety", but you wont be worrying about your money and the service should be pretty standard.
