Hi, can anybody out there help? I received a penalty Charge Notice last week and was just about to pay when I noticed that my registration number on the notice is incorrect. Does this help my case? would be obliged for any advice.

Its your birthday, don't contact anyone. In the unlikely event that they do contact you scan both sides of all documents and let the experts see them.
Good for you but possibly unfortunate for anyone with the number they gave you. At least he would probably be able to prove he was not there.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Peter is probably going to turn out to be right but can we just clarify who issued this please?

The ticket was issued by a parking enforcement officer for Transport for London0

Ok. Hold on tight to it and, as Peter said, do nothing.
It is invalid with wrong registration. They cannot change it later.
If they attempt to trace you via tax disc details then serve a Notice to Owner - come back and we will tell you what to to - it will not mean paying.
If they rely solely on the Reg he has then they will contact whoever owns that vehicle, if one exists. They will then be ok cos they were never there.
i recommend you just sit tight.

The mistake with the registration is just that the last two letters are the wrong way round. Will this make a difference do you think? I'm really worried at having to pay the full £1200

It's good enough to be invalid.
I'm guessing but is this one of those hand written ones?
and are your tax disc details noted anywhere?0 -
No, its printed and no tax details0
-
I wish i'd never said anything now! LOL
Peter had it spot on but always best to check.
They can't find you. Keep it but forget it. If he/she made a note of tax details in notebook then they still can't do anything. The PCN is invalid and they cannot change it.
If by some fluke they try it on - just come back.

i think you are worrying unnecessaily.
You have only had two people say so though.
To put your mind at ease post it over in the PePiPoo forum and they will confirm.
