Need Help in opning a new bank account

hello all ...

will i am not going to tell u my hole situation coz u r going to get board so in short ..

i am new in the UK and i was looking for a bank which can provide the following:
1.online banking
2.debit card so i can use to purchase things online..
3.interest free.

The only one I can think of for new arrivals to the UK is the HSBC Passport service which costs £6 per month

If you are Polish Natwest do a Polish welcome account.

In that website, I would recommend Barclays, LTSB, Halifax/Bank of Scotland, and Natwest.

Untrue, anyone who resides in the UK (citizen or not) can open a basic bank account, details of which are provided in the previous poster to me's link

To just HAVE the account, You CAN get an account for free though

Most banks basic accounts dont come with a debit card, just a cash card - apart from lloyds ive been told.

Eh? Halifax, natwest, rbs... off the top of my head, all give you a solo or visa electron which can be used to make purchases in shops and online where they are accepted (which is nearly everywhere now!) There are more.

To continue Kavanne's post above me, the following banks also offer debit cards:

• LTSB
• Barclays
• Yorkshire Bank
• Clydesdale Bank
• Co-op Bank
• Northern Bank
• Ulster Bank

If you have a bad credit rating you will only get this with barclays
