The best deal you can get at the moment is for the Nikon D50. The body £337 direct from Amazon with free postage. That's for the silver version. But EPCBuyer are selling both for only £340 inc VAT at the moment. If you go through quidco you can get 2% cashback to. With the lens it is only £420 at Amazon.

I sold the kit lens and upgraded to the 18-70mm lens that comes with the D70. That's the major complaints with both the D50 and the 350D. Both lens aren't apparently that good. The 18-70mm is much better built. It weighs twice as much but that's the sacrifice you have to make. I sold my 18-55mm lens for £105 on ebay and bought the 18-70mm for £130! The 18-70mm is worth twice as much.

I've bought mine for landscape photography. Although it's a bit bigger and heavier than the 350D it certainly feels better in the hand. And the fact is that you have to buy a bag for it anyway so the extra size doesn't matter because you're still putting it in the same camera bag.

Was doing price comparisons on the Canon Eos 350d and Kays has it for £1,019.99 (body only!) Price elsewhere is around £460 - almost £600 cheaper. Rip off Britain or what!

Its about £10 cheaper at savastore but i like the fact if anything goes wrong that Jessops is on the high street. thats worth the extra £10 to me.

I have been waiting for these to come down in price for ages now and the 350d at £442 is incredible! I am going to have to do some serious grovelling to my better half now! Think that I will pop by the flower shop on the way home tonight!!!

The D70 is a fantastic camera but the EOS350D steals it on 'compactness' in my opinion.

I have the D70 but if I had to buy again I would go for the Canon I think.
