Halifax Easycash

I signed up for the Halifax Easycash bank account on the 22nd of January, and on Monday I received a letter welcoming me to Halifax's online service, which stated I needed to use the username I was given when registering and the pin they enclosed. I do not have a username so I was/am unable to activate their online service.
Today I received a letter thanking me for my application for an Easycash account. The letter requested my signature, proof of address and proof of identity. Unable to fully meet their ID requirements, I checked their website and a number of additional documents are stated as acceptable. I returned my form today with my original NHS medical card (acceptable for under 18s - I'm 17), an original statement from my HSBC MyAccount, a photocopy of my birth certificate, and an original "Letter of Confirmation" (states my NI number) from HM Revenue and Customs. Will this be enough to satisfy them and open an Easycash account for me? Also, will they return my documents to me?

Why don't you open a Cardcash instead? It's for 16-17 years old and could be applied in branch. http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/cardcash.asp
I think they will return it if you ask them too.
It's better than Easycash. Alternatively, there are better bank accounts for 17 years old than Halifax. Look on the moneysupermarket website. Abbey, LTSB, and Natwest seems to offer the best interest rate for teenage bank accounts. See their website for details. They could be applied in branch, where you could get your original documentation back.
Please be aware that Easycash doesn't offer branch service.0 -
I didn't realise they had a specific account targeted towards my age group. I assume, on the basis that the ID I've supplied will be fine, I can upgrade the account once I turn 18? As the account will be a secondary bank account--for the foreseeable future at least--there's probably not much point in attempting a second application. I no longer have my documents anyway...

Ok, fair enough. Since you said that the Halifax account is a secondary account, I don't think there's no point upgrading, as your HSBC account is your primary one, which will be upgraded when you turn 18.
You could/should have photocopied the documents instead of sending them originals. It says so in the application pack.0 -

I made photocopies of my bank statement, my NHS card and my HM Revenue and Customs documents anyway, which I've kept for my records. I'm not overly fussed if they can't return these documents anyway. It's more a case of "It would be nice." than "Oh crap, I'll be frakked if they don't return these." I can easily get a replacement bank statement and another "Letter of confirmation". I can't comment on my NHS medical card as I haven't needed it in the past five or so years.Cardcash can be upgraded - an Easycash cannot

Halifax returned my original documents today with a letter stating that Customer Services have passed on copies to the processing department. I didn't expect them to be returned so quickly!0
