easy to remove and reseal, or if it's a temp thing, put some fresh sealant over the top, black is mould and realy doesn't come out easily, scrubbing with bleach works but is more trouble than it's worth - resealDon’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0 -
I'd suggest bleaching it... lay some rags or even paper towelling all around the seal, and spray it with bleach, then let it sit for a while. Make sure the rags or whatever you use are in good, solid contact with the seal. Only takes a few minutes to actually do... the rest of the time is it just sitting. The fumes can be a bit nasty, though, so be careful of that.

I coat in thick bleach and then leave it for a while.0

we have to raise the sealant this weekend in our shower before it runs away on its own accord. it is peeling everywhere. My husband Handy Andy he is not, and reckons he has seen some sort of strip you can buy on tv instead of sealant. Does anyone know what he is on about ? ?0
-
Yep!
Not necessarily the one shown on tv but any store like B&Q have them. I've got one around my bath and it's brilliant.
Mind you, I also used sealant underneath it just to make sure - only in the places where the strip allows some space there, not where it actually seals, if you see what I mean.

hi i had this and i mixed up a paste of lemon juice and salt and spread it on with an old toothbrush,i left overnite and it came off quite easily in the morning:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

You can get the strip you're talking about in most hardware shops, funky. But using it on its own can be a problem as if you fit it in such a way that water can get underneath it, you've got a bigger problem than before.
If your OH is not Handy Andy then I'd use the sealant. Scraping the old stuff out is the same for both jobs, and then putting new sealant in is a five minute task. You can get clear sealant which if he's a bit of a bodger will hide any mess or wonky lines.0 -
Our shower/bath has got black mould and mildew round the (polyfilla? The white bit that seals the edge of the bath?) It's eating away and corroding the seal and it just won't go away. We've tried everything from bleach to standard cleaners to expensive specialist mould products and we can't get rid of it. If anyone could let me know how to get rid of it and how to stop it coming back that would be great!0

I use a paste of bicarb of soda and water.... I rub it on with a toothbrush and leave it for a few minutes then wipe it off.
I use a squigee and run it over the walls and shower door when I have finished to stop the build up of soap etc.
Works well for me.
