Tesco Clubcard/Vouchers/Points/Deals - Post All Questions Here [merged]

This probably sounds like a really thick question but here goes:
I've had a clubcard for years but since we moved a few years ago and started using other supermarkets we very rarely went to Tesco - so I've never used the vouchers.
I was under the impression that the clubcard points worked like Nectar points or Boots advantage points (in that they kept growing if you didn't use them), but having recently started to shop properly in Tesco I was a bit miffed to get my clubcard statement and discover I just had £2.50!! Then a colleague told me that the paper vouchers you get sent are meant to be kept as there is no "running total" of points collected so when I had previously received £1 or 50p a quarter as a voucher and chucked them (as I wasn't going to Mr T) I had effectively chucked the points away!
Could someone just confirm that is correct so I know I'm now understanding (correctly) how it all works? Thank you!
PS: Logged in online to clubcard area of Tesco website and it says I have £32.50 so I'm extremely confused now!0 -

No such thing as a stupid questions, don't worry!
My impression is, that yes, you should have kept your paper vouchers as once they're issued they're removed from your running total.
I would say it's worth giving them a ring though and asking, especially as you say your running total is £32.50.
The number is on the back of your Clubcard. Fingers crossed for you!0 -

Basically what I am asking is that I would prefer to save my points over months and months to buy something big in the rewards store instead, can I opt to do that?
Was just re-reading this and what you could do is join the Xmas savers' club and they'll keep the vouchers issued during the year and just send them out in Nov, so will save you a few months as they'll be later than the ones issued in May, say.
Next mailing will include points earned up to 9 May according to T's website.0 -

Yes it is correct, you have to keep the paper vouchers they send you, I didn't realise either. Thought when they sent new ones out, they sent a running total of vouchers if you hadn't used them.:o
So I rang customer service and the lovely lady said she could see I hadn't spent the ones I had been throwing away and would reissue them in my next statement.
So they should do the same for you. I now keep my nice and safe!:)0 -
Thanks for your replies. I will give them a call and see what they say!!!0

They said that they will issue the £32.50 as vouchers in May so I'm happy :-) Going to use them this time (on a hotel or day out).

Is that £32.50 your current points total inclusive of the previous two years of unused vouchers that have been 'rolledover'? Or just your current points total - you have some exceptional spending or bonus points in that?
That is - when you rang did you mention about previous vouchers?
If unsure - ring again.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
I was under the impression that the clubcard points worked like Nectar points or Boots advantage points ..
But, with the Tesco clubcard working differently - via vouchers, it means there is no value on the card i.e. if the card is stolen - you don't lose out (unless vouchers were also stolen), whilst with a Nectar card the points on the card could be used.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0
