Increase in Sales

A well known builder that we do work for has reported a large increase in sales in the last week or two? Are they kidding and if so why do you think that is? I think people must be mad to do this just now even if there are good deals at the moment. What do you guys think?

I think some people will only put their lives on hold so long.
If they have got trough the last 12 months and their job is still fairly secure they may want to take the plunge.
Along with low interest rates it may not be the worst call.
Certainly better than buying 18 months ago.

Hi, i heard from my EA that their phones are ringing non stop and the mortgage broker who works in their office is really busy - so she claims. So they say things are picking up.

My father in law who works in the construction industry, had been jobless for a few months in the run up to Christmas, now has a contract with a builder for work for the next month or so.

A building site for new homes in my region was put on hold summer last year has now started building again.

I agree with Really2 - because I am one of those people who can only live with my in-laws for THAT long! Lovely folks but we really want to be able to live as a married couple properly..
  • the activity in the market can only go one way since its almost at zero, this doesnt correspond to price recovery tho. prices will still fall 20% more according to most people

A plot of new builds near me has finally sold out + £600k type houses, don't know what they actually sold for.

I was in a eatery last night and by 7pm they were full and turning away loads of customers. And no it wasn't McD's!

Absolutely brilliant. Thanks for the information. There I was thinking the worst recession in living memory, with the UK worst placed was going to be pretty tough. Apparently it's all over. Thanks for the useful information guys, perhaps I will go mad and buy something extravagant after all.

It's true. I was in a newsagents today and there was quite literally five people in the queue. The man in front of me had a king size Mars bar too.

Don't forget to get a massive loan to facilitate that :D

You'll be wanting loan payment protection too.

On that note I'm just popping out with Mrs Cleaver for a bite to eat a local eaterie.

For all you bulls out there: I would read this as a sign that I like food, rather than a green shoot of economic recovery.
