Sony Vaio AW11M

I have a Sony AW11M and it didn't come with a screen protector like my HP laptop did. Can anyone tell me where I could get a screen protector for it? Also it will not let me install Office 2007, any idea why? How can I create back up disks and what kind of disks do I need? Where could I get a case for it as the case Sony sell for it costs £120 or do you think it really needs a Sony case?

Any answers?

  • Why do you want to obscure the screen with a cover?

re Office does it already have the trial pre-installed is this the problem?

The case is up to you, if it sits on your desk then no you won't need one.

I use the screen protector I have on my other laptop to protect the laptop when it is in the case.

The trial is installed but before I installed the trial I attempted to install my own full version of Office and it wouldn't install.

I would take the laptop with me at least once a week but I am finding it difficult to find a decent case to fit the laptop.

What do you want to back up?
Vista HP has a backup programme, control panel, System and Maintenance, Backup you computer.
You have a choice of a full backup or just your data, etc.
You can back up to DVD or an external harddrive.
Presumably the Vaio came with system disks.

Tesco were selling laptop bags for around £3.00 the other day but they were only good for 15" monitors and yours is an 18" screen I believe.
I've got a Targus bag which is OK,

That gum you like is coming back in style.

When I first switched the laptop on it said I needed to create back up disks and when you read the manual it states that back up disks are not provided and therefore must be created. The Vaoi didn't come with any disks.

Thanks for the link. Are Targus bags strong?

If your Vaio has Vista installed, type 'Vaio Recovery Centre' in the Start search. Click the link and follow the instructions to 'create recovery discs'.

Mine took a couple of discs.

    Good luck
  • Backup disc's - Ours wanted either I think, but went for DVD -r as just two required but many more for cd would be needed of course.

Try a Pakuma Chokora K2 case

Is it suitable for an 18.4" screen?
  • Here is the rub, your screen is measured at 18.4" the width dimension is 437.2mm (17.2") the K1 series of bag will hold 17" models you tell me...???

There's the link above, have a look and go see one!

I didn't see the bag measurements displayed on the website but from your measurements it would appear to be a little on the small side.
