Spain's economy enters recession

  • ...interested in benchmarking us vs other countries....We're facing a return to 3m+ unemployment again. They're facing a revolution. You think the people there will sit back as 1/5th the population goes on the dole?

Well this is a global recession, if others come out of it quicker/slower, that impacts on our recovery, no?

Revolution - but that's kind of my point...the Spanish may well riot at 20% unemployment (or a bit sooner), but "we" rioted in the early 80s before we had even hit 10% - there are different tolerances because of the historical experience and therefore different expectations.

I don't think Greeks being angry at something back home counts as 'job riots', though they may well follow.

Already being at 13.6% and still not rioting shows their restraint. Its not saying they don't care, or won't seek scapegoats, or won't riot. Other incidents may be the beginnings of excuses for riots, also.
