hello
Hope you can help. I cuurently have a first direct direct account ( had for many years) and my salary is paid into this every month.
I would like to open another current account to manage direct debits seperately perhaps depositing every now and again.
1. Am i allowed to open two current accounts? Or do banks not like that?
2. The accounts i have seen is a A&L accounts? But they do appear to require a minimum deposit per month? Are there any that do not do that?
The over 50's account appears to charge £10 per month too.
3. Can anyone suggest the best second current account ? Or where i could find more?
Many thanks

1. Yes, you could open two current accounts
2. There are some banks do not need a minimum deposit per month
3. Don't know about the best second current account. It's up to you really. You could find out more here: http://www.moneysupermarket.com/currentaccounts/ and on banks website0 -
You can certainly have two current accounts - it's not at all unusual.
As for your questions about good current accounts that don't require a minimum monthly deposit, you could do worse than read Martin's guide: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/compare-best-bank-accounts0 -
many thanks for you quick responses already guys...
I am really after an account that does not require me to pay in a regular amount each month but as and when i choose.. From the articles it looks like Cahoot is one.
thanks Again0 -
Since you have a first direct account, I would apply for HSBC as it is part of the same group and you are mostly likely going to be accepted. Also the service is quite good from both so I would stick with them.0

You can always transfer the regular payment back out of the account. There is nothing that says the regular payment has to remain in the account for any length of time so you could pay into one account, then transfer it into the second, then next month, transfer it back to the first...0 -

If DDs are going to come out of the account, surely you have to make a deposit regularly in order to fund these?
Nearly every bank offers bank acccounts that don't require monthly minimum income0 -
No, i was planning to just stick 2 or 3k in this new account and let DD come out every month so it would be all taken care of for a year and i wouldn't have to worry about it.
Its basically a way to cotnrol my spending so the priorities are addressed.0
