Asda Coupons New Policy.....
waaag
I went into asda, usually I have coupons which are exchanged without any hassle., and i usually save £10 per shop, done twice monthly. However, yesterday was a different story, they said that they can only accept 3 coupons per transaction if you have not actually bought the items. which i hadn't. the only way round this is to halve your groceries, half will be your mums half yours and then you can do 2 separate transactions. has anybody else found this?

I think it all depends on who serves you. Their policy on coupons for goods you haven't bought is usually that they'll accept up to 10% of the value of the total bill - provided they sell the item. However, one checkout girl tried to tell me that i could only have 10% of the value of the voucher (total nonsense - Asda can claim 100% of its value from the manufacturer). I stood my ground and she unwillingly accepted £1's worth of Glist vouchers.
Try to pick a young boy chekout person (I just tell them to just flash the coupon past the barcode reader and let the till decide - all said in a voice that probably reminds them of their mum, works every time). If someone causes a fuss about a voucher, don't hand it over - keep it for the next time.0 -
thanks for your reply myrnahaz - yes, I am certainly going to be keeping my coupons for next time, and I shall try your idea -about 'in a voice like their mam's' yes, I like that very much and it made me laugh! many thanks! I'll keep you posted!
(NB I usually try to go to tills I have used before and non stop chat and quickly pack), but alas! she was a new girl I think., and I was not chatting to her, she was deadly serious....like ... "computer says no"..(little britain)!!0 -
The non stop chat and pack routine is a good one. Another one with boys is to mention something about their looks (there was once a boy with a hideous earring that was intended to turn his earlobe into a huge hole - I used to talk about my daughter's piercings to him so he thought I was his friend - little did he know....).
I think girls are more wimpish and don't like doing the wrong thing (the one who refused my glist vouchers was wimpy girl - and all after I'd spent ages cooing over her wedding plans). Try the older woman who thinks that she's doing Asda a favour by being there - she doesn't care about asda's rules so will take any voucher - she's not so easy to spot, though.0 -
I was refused my vouchers a couple of weeks ago and told it was a new policy. When I emailed CS to check it out, I was told they were still accepting manufacturers vouchers but not competitors?
I think it's probably the ol;d story, depends on the store, cashier, day, time.........take your pick!Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0 -
Today asked what policy was before offering vouchers. Very nice lady SA said upto 10% of bill including upto 3 vouchers for same product. I hadn't bought any of the products for which she took vouchers (included 3 of the 50p Glist ones).

Check back of your coupons. if they have a Corby address Asda can claim back the money, you don't have to have bought it. not a Corby address you have to buy the item. They won't take competitors coupons. You can always question it at the checkout and ask for a runner to come and confirm.most times they will say take them to speed things up. The Asda I worked at take up to 1/3rd off the bill in coupons! Don't forget to ad-match aswell, you can save loads on that.0

Thats correct. When it comes to thought, some people stop at nothing.........0 -
I was in ASDA Walmart Minworth yesterday and the lady refused to take 2 of my vouchers and only took one worth 50p off toilet roll!! She said you have to have bought the product to get the money off but I hadn't bought the said toilet roll and she accepted that one, so I think it is a bit hit and miss really. The lady did say that ASDA Tamworth DO NOT accept any coupons now and that other ASDAs are probably going to follow suit...not sure how knowledgable she was but she seemed genuine enough.0

In my local Asda in Hull they still take (up to 2 days ago at least) up to 1/3 of the bill in vouchers. Some cashiers say they have to be £1 or less unless you buy the product but some just take any value. I hope they don't change this!:A OFFICIAL Boots Tart :A and member of the PAH! club :rotfl:

it really depends i think. i try to choose either the young lad who i smile at and flatter (and my OH goes and looks at teh papers) or the middle aged woman whose also new (look at her bagde if its not well dog-eared shes probly new!) and as soon as they say "hello" i say a well cheery "HELLO!" and then chat with them the whole time and then i hand over my coupons with my notes or card.:T The best things in life are FREE! :T0
