British Gas Business Electricity - unfair contract! HELP!

Hi there;
Please can someone help me, I am currently with BG for my electricity but want to switch to save money. I contacted an agent to assist me with this wo in turn contacted BG. They have informed him that I am in a contract until Dec 2010!!!! And that apprently I should have recieved a letter in August. I joined BG back in Sept 2007, infact I didnt even know I was with them until I tried to go with a different provider and they informed me I couldnt. (This is busines leccy & we got the lease in Sep 07). I wasnt even aware that I was in a contract for that amount of time. Now apparently I am in a contract for another year! The dates dont even make sense to me cus if we joined in Sep surely the contract should end in Sep?

I want to switch as I am getting over charged, I can save £100 a month at least if i do but it seems I'm tied, without agreeing to anything!

Is there anything I can do?

Get a copy and check the contract (or get it checked by your solicitor) to see exactly what it says.

Possibly it was done as you were taking out your lease (in Sept. 2007), and it took a couple of months to go through (explaining the Dec start date), or you are on a fixed tariff, which is due to end in 2010?
