i have been looking for a barcelona break and i came across these apartments that i really love. if you email them they will email back within a few hours with prices and they are very very reasonable. otherwise the only place i have seen using them is lastminute and then you cant book in advance.

not sure if you will like them as much as me and i would really love to know if they are as nice as i think they look :)

They look fantastic. What sort of prices have you been quoted ?
A male chef of 4. My restaurant is always full and i don't need to tout for business.
    OK OK
I'm a house husband but it did sound better my way
  • Our family have been taking DIY breaks for the last 6 years, in fact since some of the low cost airlines started.

Both last year and again this year we are flying into Barcelona, not for a city holiday, but to head south down the coast, not too far, only about 40 miles onto the Costa Dorada. The resort area that we are staying in is near Calafell - I knew I was on the right track when I couldn't find it in any UK holiday brochures.

The spanish resorts are far nicer and less built up than the traditional 'english' spanish seaside resorts, and we found the prices for both apartments and eating our fairly reasonable. This year we have a beachside, 3 bedroomed apartment with shared pool booked for 600 euros per week, directly from the Spanish owner through https://www.niumba.com (the largest spanish rental website I could find).

UK apartment owners charge UK rates for rental , ie £750+ per week, the spanish owned apartments are much more reasonable in price. Have a look

let me find it i know it was very reasonable....i asked for prices for easter break hence it will be cheaper other times and i got quoted 121-137 euros (dependant on apartment choice) per night for 3 people - we count as 3 adults. if child is under 12 the rates would be less again.

bear in mind that is the hol prices so you will be able to get cheaper. if you are looking for lastminute deals on lastminute the prices seem to range from 80-140pounds per night dependant on dates. when i sorted throug it seemed cheaper to book directly with the company and they seem very organised and replied quickly which is a good sign.

if anyone stays here please let me know what they are like.

if you find suitable flights then there are generally nice resorts to be found.
we use www.skyscanner.net for flights then www.ownersdirect.co.uk or www.holiday-rentals.co.uk and sort a car through www.travelsupermarket.com can recommend calella de palafrugell, la franc on costa brava, hospitalet or peniscola on dorada and south, we tends to fly into malaga and stay in nerja though as love being on sea, in spanish area just an hour from grenada!

For Barcelona I've used this site a few times and my apartments have been lovely, very central and cheap.

As the title says we are thinking of breaking away from package holidays in favour of sourcing our own. We kinda did this like year with Disneyland Paris and it proved cheaper and a more rewarding experiance.

So we are a family of 4 (kids being 14 and 16 when we travel so classed as adults) and are thinking along the lines of Spain (maybe Barcelona or Madrid).

I've sourced fair priced flights that comes to around £400 for the times travelled (5th - 14th August) and am now looking to accomadation.

I happened on this site http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/ and have to admit i'm very keen but nervous to try this type of accomadation.

Has anyone done this before and what are the risks ? Also does anybody have other sites similiar to this they would recomend or any advice they care to offer us (being all too new to this type of holiday organising).

Really look forward to your advice and comments

you can save a fortune by renting out a private apartment,i used to do it then bought one i now rent out

https://www.molinoblancolazenia.com - its in the costa blanca in spain, about 30 minutes from alicante or murcia and 1 hour from benidorm
