Well just paid two weeks worth of money to the milkman, its only 1 x 6 pints of full fat milk, but its for my boys. I tend to buy semi skimmed for us. Well was hoping to spend less than £200 but spent way over that as i ended up assisting a few friends out who had been made redundant over the past month.

Next month hopefully will be less, should have farm delivery not next week but the week after. So initially a hefty payment out but should cover the month. Apparently the farmer sells 25 kilo bags of potatoes, bags of onions and trays of eggs. Fingers crossed it will work. Can't really say exactly how mch i will have bey the end of next week as its DS 5th birthday and also have to pay for milk, as we have none at all:eek:. 12 pints gone in five days, and i don't even drink it.

will look through the past posts, going to take a while as theirs so many!

    take care x

I'm over too. Always struggle to find the receipts as I forget to update it daily - only ever remember the first week :o

Might try the cash in separate purse trick - but last time I tried this OH needed to borrow some change  I also got worried that at the check out I wouldn't have enough so always had my card too :o

On the other hand, I might try online... no surprise checkouts then ;)

Thats the point though-if you know you have say £20 left-tot up your items in your head as they go into the trolley-that way you will not be put in that position. I always have a habit of mentally totting it up as I go along-rounding up or down to the nearest 50p to make life easy. If you buy online you have free reign and that can work against you.
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults
  • Just dropped in to update siggy. Not doing too bad considering the boys are on half term, but still have 9 days left to go until the end of the month.

have made some bread rolls for tomorrow(if they last) and will be cooking pasta with sauce and salad for tonight. The boys didn`t touch their dinner last night as they had a busy, busy day and were tooo tired to eat, so they will be having that tonight (aren`t I a meanie mum).

Any way catch you all later.

    Hi guys

Have just updated my sig, having done my weekly main shop yesterday. I have £45 to last till the end of next week and feel quite confident that I will be ok. Sorry I haven't been able to keep up with posts in the last couple of weeks - have been very busy at work and have had to change my work pattern to accommodate a colleague on maternity leave(hence the weekly shop done on a Weds!) Don't even ask about housework!

Hugs to all who need one and a pat on the back for all who are staying on course!

PS Forgot to say we are celebrating because DD2 has got a temporary job - for 2 months after 4 months out of work! DH and I are going out for a meal at a local pub - 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £23-95 - to celebrate! Cheers!
  • First of my 2 days off work and I am already spending! Went to local shopping centre to get DD new swimming costume and called into Instore while I was there. Spent £5.84. They have Baxters soups 2 for £1 and sugar 69p/kg.

8 days till payday ...

  • Just updated my signature - although I am running an annual challenge I am trying to break this down in monthly amounts, so hopefully will keep me on target. Running a bit over for the first two months of the year but have stocked up quite a bit, so hopefully things will balance out during the year. Have had quite a few nsds and have found a few woopsies which have helped. Thinking about the challenge has really helped me and thinking about what I am buying and what we are going to have for dinner has helped enormously cut down the amount of food we waste, which is practically nil now.
  • Hello moneysavers,

Well, as suspected this week has been a disaster for the grocery budget. We have already gone over, with one week to go! OH is on holiday, as are the children, and he was in charge at the beginning of the week as I was still working. Cue huge overspend on things for lunch, snacks, beer etc. Then we had family arrive, so I had to do a shop on Tuesday, which added to the problem, buying double of everything, plus bottles of wine etc. We had a great time though!

We still have quite a lot in the fridge, so I will try to have lots of NSDs next week. OH is away much of the week, so that should help, as I can eat baked potatoes and pasta with the children while he is away.

I am already planning March's effort, and I am determined to do better. I have never done so badly in Jan and Feb before! We have two family birthdays in March, so I will set separate budgets for those and everything else will be cut to the bone!

Well this is it I have to confess today I have BUST my budget:eek: I won't declare yet as I have another 8 days to go but I'm already £27.48 over.

I did some bulk buying and have enough washing powder for hopefully 3 months, Dishwasher Tablets for 2 months, L. Rolls and T. Soap for 1 month. Also I got loads of foil trays for my freezer and hopefully won't need any more of these for a while. Also got loads of other bits, Toothpaste Shampoo and Conditioner, Soda Crysals, Tissues and the list goes on and is too boring to post.

I know I will need to have another spend but I'm not going to worry about this as I'll keep as low as possible. I'm still really pleased despite the BUST and I think I may try to reduce my Grocery Budget over the next couple of months to make up for my naughtiness:p

I am so aware of what I am spending now and I know this challenge has stopped me from spending loads more.

Went to Mr A after I had dropped OH off at work and bought some of the felix that was on offer.

I bought 3 lots and these have been put away for next month.
