Spent on milk and bread, again. I am going through masses of bread, cheese, ham, milk with the teenagers being on holiday from school, and all seem to be around my house.!!
Took a friend shopping to Farm Foods today, and put a few things into the basket. A duck for £3.95 and some fishcakes for the babies etc. But when we got to the check out she wouldnt let me pay for my few things, saying that that was for taking her shopping, (she cant go out much as is a carer for her husband and son ). I was happy to take her, would not have charged her for the petrol anyway. But this means I have 3 more meals for nothing (as such). When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
hi ....hope everyone is going strong....or at least fairly strongish.....we had a nice morning out at thomas land...drayton manor today really great fun...helps if u are a thomas fan....flippin heck the catering there is dire....really cheap grease smell in the air ...we took our own which saved a lot judging by the prices i saw posted...we buy annual passes as we live close and u get 20%off in feb...so a bit of a saving....on the subject of 8p batter mix...i got some to try because it is 8p.made up with water (cheaper than half a pint of milk and it doesnt have a load of e numbers in it.......and (drum roll)it is good.....very eatable imo...my batter can ve hit and miss so ill be getting some more...asda has got maplesyrup or it might be maple flavoured syrup....i didnt look that close for £1 which seemed cheap...sainsburys have a third off pancake stuff i got a jif lemon for about 30p which was cheaper than a fresh lemon which i would normally buy
we are having lamb hotpot for tea which smells nice...with dumplings...on the way home we popped into asda and i got a bottle of sp cola for 7p (ripped label) the lady on the till didnt look very impressed and said is it nice.....oh replied no idea love we clean the toilet with it .......which is true...she looked at us as if we had landed from another planet.....oh well

Just working out my fourth and final shop of the month today.... got meals plans all ready etc, but think my spend will come in slightly over my budget
Of course, this is down to some reckless shopping the other weekend...
Am most annoyed at myself actually!0 -
Hi, I'm loving half term as it means I don't have to go to work and as my children are grown up it doesn't cost me any more.
I had a really good MSE day today. I went to Asda which had the following offers;
2 packs of Shreddies for £2 (almost buy 1 get 1 free)
STARDROPS AT 40p
Smart price butter half price
pkt casserole mixes 4 for £1 and quorn mince £1 a pack.
Spent £45.76. I have about £15 to last until next Thursday, not sure yet what to do about Sunday.
Then went swimming. In Mid Essex all public swimming is FREE until the end of march.
Take care all0 -
I'm another enjoying half-term..... in my case it brings the food bills DOWN !!
I look after my elder GD around school 5 days a week, and my younger GD around pre-school 3 days a week -- meaning I have to provide 1 main meal (younger GD on her half-day) and 8 snack meals (after school) for them each week. But I don't have them at all during school holidays, so it's a rest for me..... and cheaper too (I budget £3.70/week for them during term-times, which was an educated guess at the start of the year but seems to be running about right)
I'm quite looking forward to my fortnight off at Easter now
Found £12.10 of receipts this morning (while looking for something else) that should have been included in last months figures -- and hadn't been even though I was already showing an overspend  So I've added them to my signature now.
I've a couple of small bills to add to my signature for this month, but things are looking pretty good for me on the budget front -- both for this month and hopefully to end up balanced over the two months
(I have a budget for the year, which I'm then allocating on a monthly basis -- but I'm not too worried about an overspend in any one month as long as it balances out over time)Cheryl0 -

Forgot to add, Asda also had a special offer of 6 packs of 12 Felix pouches for £12, Thats only £2 per box. Unfortunately it was no good for me as the beloved moggie is nearly 16 and has to have senior cat food which was not on offer.0 -
 Just updated and looking very close for Feb  10 days to go, £41.60 left and a meal out on Fri night. On the upside, got most mains in and pretty well off for cupboard stores. I will need fruit, toms and MILK (we use loads of milk
) Maybe OH would be happy with a pizza instead of a steak?
I have been reading the stockpiling threads, and while I don't inend to stock three months worth, I think I'll use any leftovers from GC to stock up on items on special offer. Then I could spend some of next month's budget on buying other specials (does that make sense?) Anyway this means that I won't be cutting the GC budget, but using the extra to buy ahead.

wish I could report a no spend day but sadly not as a trip to the dentist means im £16.20 poorer plus 80p for the bus
have been staying away from the supermarket though despite the temptation!
A first for me tonight, i braved the cold and went to my outside freezer (in the garage) and dug around for something for tea :j steak has also been taken out for tomorrow to be served with mash and roasted onions/other veg. not sure on food for friday but no doubt another treasure hunt in the freezer beckons0 -
£3.62 left! Lots of meals in, so should be OK on that front. What is likely to defeat me though is a fussy cat and running short of butter and sugar. Fingers crossed!0
