MINT good for a mule?

Options
Just taken out a MINT card. Any reason why I can't BT to this card and use the transfer and save cheques to transfer the credit balance without charge?
Help would be appreciated.

Don't you pay 2% for cheque transactions? Summary Box :
For each ... cheque transaction debited to the account during the introductory period or during January 2007, we will charge you 2% of the transaction amount (minimum £5, maximum £49).

Also dont know about everyone else, but mint only gave me a 4k limit when i got one last year, compared to the 12k mbna & egg have given me in the past.

Agree on this - mint 2300 (cancelled last year) egg 10k.

Yes....I know...but that is when you are using their money. My question is about when the card acount is in credit. There is nothing in the t&c about this and having phoned them I'm still none the wiser!!

You ask about 'transfer and save' cheques. There is a direct answer in T&C quoted above. If you put your account in credit you can ask them to send you a cheque for the positive balance. This has nothing to do with 'transfer and save' cheques. They can, however, refuse to send you a cheque.

we were thinking of using a mint cheque for this and rang them up...there is definitely a 2% charge if you use one of their cheques

MINT is my worst limit to date. £2,800. Mind you, I have £80k stoozed

Don't they know who I am....

    Not going to bother
  • Yes you can use them to do BT's to other cards and they don't charge me for using the transfer and save cheques to transfer the now positive balance into the current account. They don't seem to worry about the balance going postive either!

Mind you mine is an old card now.

I also have an 'old' Mint card. Without giving too much away, how large can the +ve balances be? £2K, £5K, £10K etc?

I've just noticed a trap/problem with MINT, they gave me 4700 lmit, my bt's were as follows:

    08 Feb 2006 TRANSFER & SAVE £3,200.00
    08 Feb 2006 BALANCE TRANSFER/CHQ FEE £49.00
    02 Feb 2006 TRANSFER & SAVE £1,465.91
    02 Feb 2006 BALANCE TRANSFER/CHQ FEE £29.32

this all adds up to £4,744.23 - 44.23 over the limit, now i usually thought you could only BT 95% of your limit (Virgin's systems declined any BT request that did) but mint let me go the whole hog. this seems like a trap for stoozers to get charged an overlimit fee - of course i have sent 50 quid to the account to rectify this as soon as i noticed but was dissappointed i was allowed to do so, and hopefully i won't be charged the £25 overlimit fee - i'll keep you posted
