Hello all nappy changers!
I already use flannels instead of wipes for sticky mitts but want to use now for nappy changes too. I use a ridiculous amount at the moment. I need some advice though please:
1. are flannels the best things to use?
2. I plan on using just warm water to clean bums but how do you clean flannels after use? I thought a good rinse in sink for no 1s (or is that insufficient for bacteria?) and change daily
3. but what about no2s? do I use a clean flannel each time or clean in a bowl of water plus what??? teeny bit of soap powder?
TIA

I used washable wipes for mine - you can buy them of make your own - I found fleece the best fabric and used a cheap fleece blanket cut into wipe sized squares. I made a mix of water, a tablespoon of oil (just sunflower cooking oil, helps get the sticky stuff off) and a squirt of bath bath that I dipped the wipes in as I used them. I did find the fleece better than flannels but try and few things and see what suits you. I had a big pile of wipes and used them once only at a time, I used washable nappies so just shoved them in the nappy bucket and washed at 40. Maybe just have a bucket. bag you put used ones in a put in with your next wash.People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

My sister used flannelette material cut into squares - which she's now passed on to me (baby due in March!). With DD I had a small spray bottle of chamomile tea which helped to shift most things and helped to soothe her skin...I did keep baby wipes around for heavy duty needs, but as she got older this wasn't as necessary.

i too user resualbe wipes bought some and made some. the ones i bought had fleece on one side an flannel on the other. fleece was great if just a pee just used either in plain water or a bit of baby bath , some people made up a mixture every morning with the likes of lavender and tea tree oil but i was a bit lazy lol
you will hardly use any even with no 2 s as the flannel gripps the poo better than wipes and doent spread it everywere !!
good luck i wouldnt use wips on my wee ones again and as my mum said she used them on me and my brother and we are bother fine lol

sounds interesting. i often use flannels for faces and mucky hands. I like the fleece/flannel idea . at the mo i only use about 1 packs of wipes a week. but it still adds up.where can i get the fleece/flannel wipes from ?0

I used facecloths (value ones from Asda were cheapest then) I put about a dozen in a plastic box and some water with a squirt of baby lotion or moisturiser & a couple of drops of lavender or tea tree oil. Used each one once before putting in the nappy bucket & washing all together at the end of the day/couple of days. If you have a sewing machine you could make your own from cut up flannelette sheets hemmed/overlocked round the edges.0
