Internet - prescription drugs

124

Comments

  • I've ordered prescription drugs over the internet, plenty of them

Doctor wouldn't prescribe them to me so I got a credit card and ordered them myself. I can't remember where the first few batches came from, but the last stuff I got came from Turkey I think, at a better price.

The drugs were kosher, in fact my sister was prescribed the same drug by her doctor but having seen it I know it wasn't as good as the stuff I got over the net.

Best thing that ever happened to me.

    Doctor wouldn't prescribe them because?
There are some very dumb comments on here.
  • Because the doctor wasn't very understanding for this particular condition.

I wasn't trying to save money - I just wanted to avoid seeing a Doctor. Selling prescription drugs on the internet is not illegal.
yes it is, thats why the legal status according to BNF.org.uk is 'prescription only drug'
  • depends, do you trust a guy youve never met, is prepared to sell illegally, who is unable to (at least legally) source what it is he is trying to sell, and has had no training in preparing, advising or dispensing any drugs, and you are willing to take something which no qualified person thinks is in your interests, then yes go for it.

If however you would rather a GP prescribe a drug, a pharmacist to check that the drug is best for you and you are aware of all the risks, then give you a tightly restricted drug which has been correctly prepared, stored, and labeled then no, go to your GP, discuss the problem, ask for the alternatives, and go to your pharmacy..

Animal drugs are a different kettle of fish, these can be lagally sold online, and as such are tightly controlled, so you can buy cheaper but still coming from someone qualified to do what he says hes doing and is able to source what he says hes giving you.

I didn't know how to do that or whether it was possible at the time (I was 18). I'd lost faith and decided that if I wanted something doing properly I'd do it myself

Incidentally, my sister moved house and got a new doctor who prescribed her the same drug I got over the net. The one I bought over the internet was manufactured by the company who created the drug and I have no doubt that it was the best quality stuff available, the results spoke for themselves. The stuff my sister got was manufactured by someone else and her results haven't been as impressive.

Now I know different people react in different ways and I'm not saying you'll get better stuff online than your GP will get you (although I'm pretty sure that in my particular case I did), but should my previous condition rear it's ugly head again I'll be logging on to my tried and trusted online pharmacy as opposed to going to the hassle of switching doctors in the hope they will presribe me the said medication

I find that all extremely worrying, unbelievable you would take that risk.Although at 18,and knowing how useless SOME doctors can be I can understand your feelings of helplessness.

To say the results spoke for themselves, all I can say is a heroin addict wil get the result he craves from street heroin, but its not heroin that is so bad for you its BAD heroin, pure heroin is something different.

You may not know until some time in the future the effect of the drug you took, nor whether the dose you took was right for you.

I've been taking the same medication for my asthma for the last 10 years, I've had the condition for the last 29 years. I used to be able to get 6 inhalers for £14.20 of whatever it costs for 2 prescriptions, I have recently changed doctors though and now they will only give me one at a time so now it is costing me £42+ for the same medication as 'it is policy to only give one month at a time'. They have not asked to see me each month but they will not give me the medication.

I think it is ridiculusu and I get annoyed for a start that I have to pay to stay alive, if I become ill and do not take the inhalers then I become ill and so cost the NHS more. So why is it not in their interest to prescribe me the medication I need? I wish I had known about this before i moved doctors that is for sure, I would not have registered. My husband is asthmatic and so he has to have the same medication and that now costs the same.

The docs know I need them, my asthma is not going to be cured overnight is it? If I knew I could buy a years supply over the internet and save me money then I would.

Or should I just stop taking them and get ill and then have to take more of their time. I do not like to waste a doctors appointment but they have told me that if I want more I need to make an appointment with the doctor who may or may not give me more. So what a waste of a doctors appointment for a silly policy they have,
  • To briefly address Chlamydia; please please please, get back to a GP you feel you can trust, if you've already moved to another doctor that's fine, I just wasn't sure from the earlier posts I read.

Taking on the risk of self-diagnosing more significant conditions, instead of a professional you trust doing the necessary prodding and poking, isn't a good move in any situation. Thanks for not condoning the practice to others though.

For interest and reference, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society GB has the most comprehensive link I've seen, follow the 1st pdf link for even more indepth details.

To emphasise, obtaining prescription only drugs in the UK over the internet is only legal if you are in posession of a UK prescription and the pharmacy is registered in the UK.
