If this is an error (& let's face it it's silly cheap!) if you've booked your flights & they A)-Offer you another Hotel you don't like, or-Worse case scenario-offer you a refund YOU MAY BE STUCK WITH A FLIGHT & POSSIBLY NO ACCOMODATION (if it's cancelled close to departure) AND A FLIGHT WITH NO REFUND/POSSIBILITY TO CHANGE (most v .cheap scheduled flights give no flexibility).
Great Bargain & WELL DONE SAVAPENNY. If you must book it go to an agent who'll put it under their ATOL licence (No-not a plug for business but a common sense approach that will cover the flight as well if there is a major change)-THEY then take the risk.
I e-mailed this to one of our Managers & he was very dubious. WHY IS IT JUST THE ONE ROOM TYPE? We've had this happen with the likes of Med Hotels, etc & it's a real mess to sort out. Personally, I would not risk booking this under our ATOL (even if offered 100 bookings!)-too risky as it looks likely to change/is an error & Egypt is fraught with overbookings at the moment.
Again-not looking to rain on Savapennys parade but BE CAREFULL.
EDIT-just checked for TWO PAX 1 week 19/5-£427!!! Notice the £42 price for a triple is 'on request' & a triple is essentially a twin with extra bed thrown in. I hope no ones confirmed flights on this as it MUST be an error!0 -
Hi ,
Agree with Chris's (travelman ) comments and hope that people did read T & C 's before ticking the box !.
Octopus are still "selling " some on request (call centre ) and others available ( confirmed ). I bought 4 for the family and will get flights through the "system" nearer the time (sept ).
I to would not have put these through via the biz for customers without some very careful checking .(not good for them or us if they get stuck ,even if we are ATOL and bonded. ).
If you check Octopus and there are some other sites ,the prices for other hotels seem cheap as well ie The Pharoah £189 ,= £9 pppn.
All i can add is it,s a gamble if you can afford it and make sure you have good insurance cover,in case Octopus do cancel ,so that your flights (if booked )are covered.
Looking on the bright side ,(difficult this morning ,after 2(or 3) many bottles of b/day wine !!!)you would have thought that they would have corrected the pricing by now ,especially as some of their telesales have been taking booking's without realising.!
quick note ,my other posting ie "tours" were done tounge in cheek !!.Like Chris "I NEED COFFEE!". Later's.
PS still think saveapenny should win P.O.M. for finding it.0 -
I hope no ones confirmed flights on this as it MUST be an error!
Even if people have confirmed flights, its so easy to get cheap hotels in Cairo.
I think its still worth a chance
I do agree, I wouldnt book under my ATOL either (if I was an agent) but get a flight and take a chance....He who dares saves ...or it all goes tit's up(chris's saying ).If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
HE WHO DARES SAVES !
WHAT 'BOUT THE SHE'S OUT THERE ?.
Dont want to be seen being chauvanistic do we !0 -
Love it......(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) All I'm saying is that YES-well spotted. It is such an obvious error that so many people will get their fingers burnt on it...Imagine if you were told 14 days before & there were no suitable other Hotels available??!
That's why Octopus cover themselves with the booking conditions I copied/pasted. There is no way they'll honour these rooms at a BIG loss. Ask yourself the question...would YOU honour it if you could get out of it via your booking conditions??!0 -
arhhh come on chris your telling me if you have your flight booked and 14 days before NO hotels left in Cairo at all..lol not gonna happenIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0
-
Agree...there will be Hotels left but maybe dearer....not right location?? Just me....I've had my customers's fingers burnt so many times when I've booked these 'too cheap to be true' offers & the Tour Op's have cancelled them....just me being ultra cautious (!!!!) See on ;quote' thread-got the el makdi with tfers at a good price!0

I agree that there is a risk involved. However, Octupus did the same thing last year with a 3 star hotel in Zurich for £6 or £7 per night and I was dubious right until I checked in. We had no problems at all ..... what would be interesting is to see whether they changed there t's and c's since last years gaff.0
