I think a little more explanation of how this occured is needed.
  • Sure.

The person that found the item used his account because it was easier seeing as he had a paypal and Ebay account the other just wanted the item and all the work had been done for them so they paid with their credit card.

Now if there's a dispute and the account owning side wants to claim through use of receipt but the other has a statement proving he paid for the transaciton who would hold up?
  • I suspect legally, the person who paid for it, if they haven't been paid back. But if they went into the transaction knowing that the other party intended to pay for the item and the CC holder is refusing to accept payment, ... it's complicated.

Untimately, they need to try to come to an amicable agreement, because it's ultimately going to be one word against the other.

So the first person bought it and paid for it using their paypal account? How did the second person then pay with their credit card by transfer though paypal?

If I read it right, the person who's paypal it is has paid for the goods.

He just used someone else's credit card to pay money into his paypal account. That money could have been used to pay for anything where PP was accepted.

It's no different to you buying something with a debit card and me making a balance transfer into your bank account from my credit card - I've paid you money, but you've bought the goods.

It sounds as though the CC owner asked his "friend" to get him something off ebay, and now that "friend" has decided they'd like to keep it themselves. Seems a messy situation though and if the two people argue like that they can't be good enough friends to be using each other's credit cards/paypal accounts imo.
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...
