Sorry haven't been able to read entire thread, but I met someone out walking recently with an Irish terrier that was a lovely little dog (still a puppy) which didn't moult. She got that breed because her kids were allergic. Quite hard to come by apparently, but lovely dog.
Look at these pics. Cute or what?!If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
Might not moult, but is very likely to be a right little handful, and a lot to cope with alongside small children!0

How about a poodle they don't moult and have good natures. I have Afghans they moult in balls of fluff but they are rather large for a young child who's not been used to dogs.0

...whatever dog you decide on, please do consider a rescue dog - there are local ones and specific breed rescues eg. for poodles look here: http://www.poodlesinneed.co.uk/0

Hi, i have a shih-tzu, and she is great with my 2DD's (ages 2&4)and she does'nt moult, and is like one of the kids (likes nothing better than to be fussed:D)i did get a rescue dog,6yrs ago he was only 7mths old at the time, but he had really bad behavioural problems, like jumpin on the work-tops in the kitchen and lying across the cooker, when the glass top was down, he used to sleep on the break-fast bar(sounds unbelieveable but it is the truth)in the end i could'nt cope he destroyed my house and after having him for 3mths, i had to take him back to the rescue centre, but they did say once that behaviour is in them, its almost immpossible to get them out of it.It broke my heart, but after that i vowed i would only get a dog from a puppy that i could train (sorry to all the rescue dogs lovers:o).
- whoops!! sealed pot opened!!! for holiday stuff, £360, an i BLEW it:D

It is possible to train any older dog, but it can take time and patience - however, he was only a pup at seven months old, just heading into the tricky teenager age!
I am guessing he was bigger than your shihtzu - this is one of the practical things to consider when choosing a dog - my dog cannot steal food from the worktops, or dining table, let alone climb onto them, whereas a taller leggier dog can! (as my mum has found out since bringing Cleo home! her house is now much tidier!)
Please remember, there are lots of pups in rescue too, as (especially in this financial climate) a lot of pregnant b1tches are sadly finding themselves in the pound or rescue.0
