Roof Vent

Options
Had a full reroof last year, using a synthetic tile which looks (and is thin) like slate. We now have decided to fit an en suite in out bedroom, and plan to vent the extractor fan up into the loft, then out through the roof.

I've seen "mushroom" type vents on some properties - anyone know if these can be fitted from the inside? I'm a handy DIY type, but after busting my leg last year, don't want to risk going up on the roof and fitting from the outside!

I doubt whether you could fit the vent from the inside. For one thing the "slates" will all be fixed from the outside.
If you could remove a "slate" from the inside then, you could drill it and fit the weather proof gaiter from inside the loft. But I would not think that it would be possible to do from the inside. I sympathise with your access problem. I have no head at all for heights. Although I did a lot of stuff on the roof when I built the house. Of course, it was easy with the scaffold all round.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

No, unfortunately you can't fit the vents from the inside.

You need to strip a few slates off to get them in and then replace them around it, impossible from inside. Sorry

Have you got a gable end or sofit you could vent out of? you would still need to get up there but should be eaiser than going on the roof.

Thanks for all your ideas... you've confirmed what I thought.

I think going out through the soffit above the bedroom window is favourite - still not easy as it's quite a shallow pitch roof, and the crawl space in the loft at that point is pretty inaccessible.

    Thanks again
