I dont like the idea of trying to skin a dead animal, especially a squashed one!!!! and how long had it been there???? bit too dodgy for me!!!!0

Just coz a dead animal is lying on the side of the road doesn't guarantee it was a healthy animal very recently killed by a vehicle!!
Urrghhh the thought of this is making me shudder !!!My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

I have read his list of delicacies. I see that the rat is conspicuous by its absence.Small change can often be found under seat cushions.

I think it highly unlikely it was any less healthy than the stuff we buy in supermarkets.
I think it's a great idea, just wish i had the bottle. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0 -
I've had roadkill pheasant before, but then it was hit by the car in front of us so I knew it had been freshly killed
BTW, it's "illegal" to pick up a pheasant that you've hit yourself, so no getting any ideas about going out into the country lanes to run them over for dinner :rotfl:"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

I'm really not sure about it though!
My boss is a bit like this and has been known to pick up pheasants from the road and take them home for tea.
well i'd never eat anything i'd not seen killed BUT once when i was pregnant we hit a rabbit... couldn't avoid it as we were on a one track road with big ditches on either side and i was 7 months pregnant... bunny jumped right in front of the car so oops!
anyway, i made dh get out to put it on the side of the road BUT he said it was in pretty good condition considering so i told him to chuck it in the car
we took it home, cleaned it it and ate it...
i saw it as a way of honouring the rabbits life vs letting it rot by the roadside
BUT I KNOW what happened to it and how fresh it was
when i lived in texas it was quite common for deer to be hit up in the hill country... most folks took them home to eat, least they could get out of it considering that the deer usually cost thousands of $ in damage!
also i know someone here that is frequently getting pheasants flying into her windscreen so she has taken them home to eat... but again, everyone knows how fresh it is
i would NEVER eat anything that was just lying by the road :eek:founder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0
