bicycle chain repair

Options
My 7 year old's Universal 16 inch bike has its chain off. No gears, but I can't put it back as it is too tight. Totally green with bikes (pun unintended) - can anyone tell me how to fix it?

Comments

  • Loosen the wheel off and see if this gives enough play to get the chain on.
  • To put the chain on, you should make sure the chain is fully round the back cog, then hook it onto a few teeth at the top of the front cog, don't wrap it fully around the front cog, just the top so it hooks on. Then turn the pedals to wind it round the rest of the cog. if it's still too tight to do this then loosen the back wheel, try again, then tighten it by pulling the rear wheel back before tightening the nuts to hold the wheel on.

    Hope this helps
