we had an Egypt day at school...heres what I did!!! got a largish white T shirt then on line matched alphabet letters with the egyption letter, printed it out on photo paper and stapled it on the t-shirt. Managed to get a "gold" ringed belt from the charity shop which DS used as a belt. Did some egyptian drawings on the t shirt, made a hook staff thing carboard and foil which he carried, wore normal trousers underneath to save grief in the loo, did a blue peter type job for a crown thing that was arched, that was blue and gold like Tuk. Sorry not explaining myself but the idea of a t-shirt that had an egypt theme appealed to DS who had to sit in "costume" allday, teacher commented that was good that he joined in with making something, plus didnt have to fork out any money, part from charity shop belt.

If you pm me I will post the gold chain and beaded belt to you, if its no good, please recycle onwards!

oh loubob, that is really kind of you!

Plans changed again! Well, it now turns out that my son has benn unintentionally named after the egyptian god of chaos , Seth, so he HAS to go dressed as him! Its very apt actually, he does leave a trail of chaos and destruction in his wake!

I now plan to decorate a tshirt, make some amulets and a collar (maybe attached to the tshirt) and make a mask/hat with the animal head on.

Have a look at this to see if you are inspired on the best way to make it. I thought making it as a hat would be easier for him as he has to stay in costume for the day!http://www.artyfactory.com/egyptian_art/egyptian_gods/seth.htm

Mambury....school certainly like to make life difficult!!! The blue collar looks ok to make, either out of card with some additional egyptian drawings or maybe some blue felt attached to the card, with some gold beads charms if you have any knocking around, I am sure he will look great and after stressing out about my DS costume after observing at the school gate the gravity of effort from no costumes to fabulous authentic costumes I realised that as long as he was happy with what he was wearing and I hadnt forgotten the rest was irrelevant!!!! You will be an expert on King Seth at the end of it!! LOL !!! Good luckx

Shouldn;t be too bad, theres only 19 kids in the whole school, so not much competition there!

Now all I need to do is pull my finger out.:rotfl:
