  • You couldn't fill your walls without filling their's too, there's no seperation so it'll fall into their part if you try to just do your own.

British Gas are doing a subsidised deal on cavity insulation, can't find a link but it's on house.co.uk , about £175 for a 3 bed semi. At that sort of price you might be able to get the neighbours interested.
  • Its well worth it - we got our semi done a few months ago and you do notice the difference.
Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain - and most fools do.
  • I'd ask a professional, there must be lots of people who want to do this so they might be able to use expanding foam or similar to block the gap before pumping the insulation in.
Also have you tried asking the people that live below, they may have already had theirs done in which case it won't be a problem, or may be willing to share the cost if you get theirs done at the same time. Scottish Power do it for £125 (for a semi) with the government grant. They will come out and give you a quote. Why not arrange for your neighbours to be there at the same time if it might help convince them, it's a no-obligation quote and they should be able to advise if its possible to do just your own house. It might take a month before you get a quote though as they're very busy at the moment. I also estimate about 2-3 months before they will be able to do the work depending on how busy they are.

    Hope This Helps

some councils do it free through some goverment grant scheme give your council a call to find out. if not suggest it to the people below they may half the bill with you :-) £75 for wall insulation cant be bad and will probably pay you back in saved energy in 1 or 2 cold winters.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.
