Main Dealer Dodgy Deal?
I bought an 07 reg Renault Scenic Diesel about 11 months ago, new, but "pre registered" from a Renault Main Dealer.
Now the 1st service is due, and I called a more local dealer for a price. 1st thing they asked for was the registration number, and when I quoted it, the car didn't come up on the Renault UK database.
So I suspect I may have been sold an import (but this wasn't disclosed at the time). It looks the same spec as Uk but I'm worried...

- May not have full 3 year UK warranty
- If I break down, Renault assist won't come out under warranty - since they will search the same database
- I may not be insured, as in answer to the ins co asking "is it an import" I said No.

go in, could just be an admin error0

Might be a NI car. Offer them your VIN number instead of reg number. They will find it then...0

mally mal. What spec is it? e.g. dynamique, expression etc?0
-
Thanks Lemonade Pockets, it's a 1.9 diesel Dynamique.
PS there's a stamp in French on the back of the service schedule - at first I thought this was OK since Renault is French, but now I'm not so sure...0 -
Does it have locking wheel nuts and an alarm? If it doesn't then more than likely you have yourself an import. Also a lot of imports had climate control(available as an option in the uk) and slightly different interior (there was only one cloth trim in the uk so yours should be the same as any other of the same vintage).
You can ring Renault Customer Services who can check by the VIN no were the car has come from. This is probably the best way to find out.
It is unlikely that it has been imported from france so don't worry about the french. Cyprus and Ireland are the most common.
If it turns out that you have bought a import and you feel that the original dealer has mislead you, i would take it up with the dealer, their Head Office, Renault Customer Services. In that order.0 -
Thanks very much ... i'll try what you suggest.0

There are a few shades of interior trim on them...0 -
Dynamiques of the same age always have the same interior unless they had leather.
The interiors have changed over the years tho e.g. a 54 plate will have different interior to 57 plate.
IIRC there were 2 changes over the years resulting in 3 trims. There were some special editions based on the dynamique e.g. the maxim, oasis, which had different interiors. So in some respects what you are saying is correct however my orignal statement still stands!!0 -
But I've still seen different shades of cloth on them. So my statement still stands too................................0
