Hi, I just wanted to wish you luck with your debt-free journey.
The best thing that I could reccomend is to join in with a few of the challenges as they help me to stay on the straight and narrow!
Even reading through some of the threads every now and again gives me inspiration.

    Good Luck!

Hi essexmum, I'm a 'newbie' but had my LBM I think around 6 mths ago but have been cruising these threads unseen for encouragement. My debt isn't any where near yours (nothing negative meant by that! Lol!) but I too struggle with the motivation to stick to it. I am lucky as if I be good I will be DF by 18mths, if I am not I will spiral out of control, and if I am extra good I could start the new year afresh (but sadly I know I won't as I have not got the commitment of some of you on here). I am unlucky with the fact that I am a lone parent - but realise that gives me ultimate control and also that I only have me to blame. I am however facing the music and have my health, a steady job and gorgeous little one!
I just wanted to say hi, its my first post and that there are lot's of us willing you on out there (just sometimes you can't see us!)

You sound very determined hun, have you thought about adding a signature like mine? i find that really keeps me going, i like to see the number come down by a little bit every week! Debt busting is full of ups and downs (more downs than ups I find)

Go on you with the car insurance and i'm very impressed with the soup - let me know how it goes!

Hello. Aww we've all had days like yours try not to get too down though. Like you say things will get better. Don't do the food shopping when you're ill and miserable, if you are anything like me you'll buy too much comfort food which then takes me over budget.

No chance Hubby will come home from work and cook? If not getting a takeout for once does not mean you have failed your challenge or your family or are inadequate. Remember its just one day. I hope you are feeling better soon.

  • Hi EssexMum, had to write, as I'm an Essex Mum too :) I kow its easier said than done but if you can, try and focus on the positives, you have STOPPED making things worse, that's a major plus in itself. AND I notice from your signature you aim to pay off over 26k in 2 years, that's phenomenal! By the Olympics you'll be well into debt-free. Everything looks pants when you'
re poorly but you'll feel better son and be up and at 'em again. So get well soon :j
Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam

Hi Essexmum - just wanted to "pop in" to your diary and give you a virtual hug.:grouphug:

Everything always seems much worse when you don't feel very well. Also its so cold today and the weather is so horrible its no wonder you are feeling down.

Try and take something positive from this. Maybe you could cook a couple of meals and put them in the freezer and then use them for emergencies like today when you don't really feel like cooking? This would hopefully help with the temptation of the takeaway.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Essexmum, just wanted to say that it took me time to get a job as I had my daughter very young and didn't work at all until she was five. I got my first job at 23! How about doing some volunteering (try CVS - community voluntary services type websites), I know volunteering doesn't bring in the cash but it's great for getting that so often needed experience and boosts your self esteem because you're giving your time to places and people that need it. It looks great on a CV as also says something about you. Also there is alot of value in being a stay at home mother that could be transferred to work - volunteering with charities like homestart or CAB could give you a foot into the door for support work. Volunteering at kennels or in a charities office as admin or in a charity shop. Choose something slightly relevant to what you want to do when paid and also something you enjoy and it will make you shine - great for a reference!
Like I said no money reward but you can still continue to apply for jobs and at the same time make yourself more employable. Don't loose hope - it will happen just keep going.
oh, just thought there is always volunteering at the school and looking out for work that way, teaching assistants often get qualifications as well as being term time only and aren't reception etc term time too?
May be wrong in the direction of career and obviously I have no idea about your qualifications but thought I would throw some ideas out there.
Good luck and hope you're better!
