Laptop keyboard problem

Options
Hello

Bought a Toshiba L20-197 laptop from Currys last week, after using it for a while I noticed it was missing the odd character when typing. I took it back and the shop assistant agreed and swapped it for a Packard Bell EasyNote. This is doing the same thing.

My question is :

Is it just a case of 'wearing the keyboard in', it seems to work ok if you type very slowly and deliberately press each key

or

is there a general problem where they are all made by the same manufacturer.

If there is a general problem, can I prove it, or can it be fixed with a new driver etc.

Thanks

Unless you are using any of the Windows accessibility options or have a strange typing "action". IMO I think you have just been unlucky - return Easynote as well.
    Rich people save then spend.
Poor people spend then save what's left.
  • To be honest I wouldn't have taken a Packard bell instead of a tosh laptop in the first place
  • Not using accessibility options, and my own very old dell latitude is just fine.

It also goes into 100% CPU usage when there's only 1 IE window open, there's 512mb RAM so I would have thought it could handle that !

Any suggestions for a replacement for ~ £500, only need it to browse the web and occasional letter writing, thought i'd be ok with the tosh or the PB
  • It shouldn't be slow..

    Is it patched with windowsupdate/antivirussed/antispywared?

  • have you installed some antivirus/antispyware software and run windowsupdate, to stop it happening again?
