Have been recommended this boiler by an assessor from Homefront.
The house is a large three bedroom semi with low water pressure (do not know if that is relevant)
Does anyone know if this is powerful enough it sounds a bit lightweight to me.
Thanks in advance

Boilers are specified according to either the required hot water flow rate in the case of a combination boiler, or, the overall heat loss from the fabric of the building (which is dependent on a whole raft of u-values) in the case of a system or heat only boiler. In the case of the first example, it is rare that heat loss is an issue.
Now, what do you think would be an appropriately sized boiler for your property?0 -
Having read a couple of reviews elsewhere this boiler was recommended for a two bedroom flat or a small 3 bedroom house - this is a large 3 bedroom semi, extended extensively downstairs.
Do you think this boiler is good enough?0 -
I would assume that the necessary calculations have been made. Your reference to two bedroom flats etc makes no sense whatsoever.
If I told you the boiler produced well over 60,000 BTUs of heat per hour, or if I pointed out that it could easily heat twelve 1200*600mm double convector radiators would you feel happier?
P.S. I had a customer recently who needed an 18kW boiler but insisted that I installed a 28kW one on the basis that he had had one before and was pleased with it, despite that fact that it was in a different property. He had to pay extra to have the gas line enlarged and obviously had to pay more for the boiler and it was all completely pointless. Ho hum, the customer is always right.0 -
So basically there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the boilers power/output and it is perfectly adequate for the job in hand?0

I can't think of any more ways of saying that it depends on the heat loss for your property, which is individual for your property.
You would be better off asking whoever specified the boiler to justify their recommendation.0 -
Many thanks for your patience - I will get a second engineer to come round and see if I can get the stats on the heat loss0
