in Credit cards
After much hassle with these people sending this and that in the post to confirm the address i end up with we are pleased to say your application has been accepted. However we are offering you a credit card which is 34% APR for balance transfers. But it has 0% on purchases until 2009 then reverts to 34%.
Why don't these companies just tell me that before making you send ID proff of addresses etc etc. They'd already done the credit search etc so they know what they're going to offer but you still have to fart around for a week sending this that and the other when you could be applying to someone else!
i know exactly why they do it actually, its the old sales technique. they think that because you've done everything you wont want to go thrrough it all again with another company and some people will just say oh stuff it i cant be bothered give me the card.
well not this time capital one......hmmm off to try someone else me thinks

0% on purchases for a year seems a valuable benefit... I see no point in rejecting it.. the credit check has been done now.0

yes if i wanted to buy something then yes it would be fine. my aim is to transfer a large balance to a cheap rate though so it makes no sense for me.
However***update just applied online for the top deal virgin 16 months 0% balance transfer and was accepted immediately. Surprised because only been in my present house for 2 months, my previous house six months and not on the electoral role at my new house yet.
oh well, balance transfer sorted and good limit given to me too.0 -
bizarre!
no spending on CC for a year?0 -
nope. trying to get rid of debt. but with the virgin one i got last night i get 0% on purchass for 6 mths anyway should i need to buy something.
oh and the other nice thing after making a call to virgin last night is that you get to speak someone who's english which makes things so much easier!0 -

CLAPTON's point (which you seem to have missed?) was that it's always better to keep spending and BT's on separate cards. And everyone spends money on essentials, which is what he was referring to.0 -
i see his point and yours. but the whole reason i want a new credit card is
for a balance transfer only. I use and have been using my debit card only for ages now.0
