Main Dealers charging different prices for a 1 year old service?
My car is due its service this month (but I'm planning on making it wait till next month, only 6 k on the clock anyway).
I rung the Croydon Suzuki dealer & was quoted £191 for the first year service.
Though all dealers charged the same, but just to check, I thought I would call the other one thats a similar distance - Haywards Heath, they quoted £211 (if anything I would have expected them to be cheaper being out in the country).
The man could tell I was surprised & asked why, I told him the first price I was quoted, he said they probably use cheaper oil:rolleyes:
I said they are a main dealers too:rolleyes:
He still insisted they could be using a cheaper oil
Is this true, would all main dealers use the same parts?
Is it usual for dealers service prices to vary?

When I had a Ford focus a few years ago there was quite a difference in the servicing prices between the main dealers around Cardiff, and you could usually play one of against the other to get a cheaper price.0

Labour rates vary, but the parts & usually oil will be standard nationwide. I presume you are talking about CMW Suzuki? I'd not bother taking it there, as they are low on staff at the moment and the Service Manager has to help do services occasionally :A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. When my Honda needed it's first year service the dealer who sold it wrote to us - as they do - and when I called them they quoted £130. Despite banging on in their letter about a "no inconvenience" service policy they would do the vehicle first service only if it was taken to them at a specific time of day and you waited half an hour or so.
I rang another nearby dealer and they quoted £95 with collection and return of the car included. Needless to say the second one got my business and provided they remain cheaper will retain it whilst the car is under warranty.0 -
You could place your warranty in jeopardy by delaying your service by a month.
You do not have to use a main dealer for servicing, as long as it is serviced to manufacturers schedule, your warranty will be OK.0 -
...and using OE parts. Any aftermarket parts will invalidate the warrenty too...:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Get it done within the year please OP as Inactive has pointed out. In this climate you do not want to give them any excuse to invalidate your warranty.0

MrsE!!!!
Will you never learn! How much for a first service???? you did say first??
No more than an oil filter needed for that - you are being ripped off big time - I would try and find an independent and get them to do it - best to use genuine parts - you could provide them yourself, go to main dealer and buy what is needed.
It wouldn't take longer than an hour, your mileage is low, and I would think around £100 would cover it. Lordy - we wouldn't charge much more than that for a top of the range Lexus for a first service!! And we go right over it, wheels off, check brakes and everything!
Don't get ripped off MrsE!
End of sermon - off the beddy byes now...
