Hey there, ive looked through this site for quite a while just not really dared to post apart from the other day. Im with Halifax and the last few months been finding it really hard to get by. Ive cancelled Direct Debits before they bounced and it ment that this month ive had to do my best to catch up. Ive now done this with everyone but halifax. due to me been told incorrect info in branch a standing order payment failed and i was charged £35 which took my over drawn by no more than £2. I was charged £35 again and again for some reason but only had one letter for the original fee. Because theyve charged me so much in a month where ive spent all i have trying to catch up i feel though im going round in circles, im trying to catch up but not getting anywhere and got nothing to fall back on for the month. i dont want to sound like im moaning but i really dont know what to do for the best. please can someone help?? thank you!

My husband had the same thing with Natwest - was told he had no direct debits left to come out and then 2 came out the very next day - he was then charged £38.00 for each bounced direct debit and charged for going over his overdraft. He phoned and complained and had the charges reimbursed because it was down to the bank giving him the wrong information so it might be worth phoning them and seeing if you can get them to reimburse the charges. Good luck0

Maybe try again and see if you get a different answer from a differnt person - that seems to work sometimes (!?!). Hubby did have to really go on at them and ask to speak to a manager. Did you just phone your normal banking number - if you did maybe try the customer complaints number or asked to be passed to that dept? Good luck0

I would phone again and if they still refuse ask to speak to a customer care manager, i used to work for halifax and the customer care would generally give the customer back the charges as a one off if the advisor wouldnt. Be polite to the person on the phone dont go in guns blazing as it makes them not want to help you. The advisors only have authourity to give out so many charges where customer care can use discretion.would love to win an ipad!

sometimes an initial direct debit will not show on the account until the day it's claimed and you have to cancel 3 working days before it's due.0
