Help needed for fuel prices

Hi,
I've just received a bill from Scottish Power for just over £1,200 for gas and electricity costs since September 08. Does anyone know if this amount is normal? I am on a day/night meter for the electric, and would say that I am an average user, with 2 adults/2 children. Please help. If it is high what could have gone wrong? Thanks.

Is the bill based on actual or estimated readings?
    Were your previous bills estimated?
There have been substantial price rises which you may only just be seeing in your bill.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • Hi,

The bill was nearly £800 based on an estimate but I phoned in the meter reading thinking it (naivally) that the amount would not amount to much, but of course increased to the 1,200+.

Have your previous bills been estimates? Its possible that the supplier has been underestimating for some time so sadly they have now caught up with you.
Since its so high they may agree to let you spread the payments over a period of time.
