shared boys room ideas

I apologise firstly if this isnt in the correct forum.
My two boys aged 7 and 3 share a bedroom. It is in desperate need of decorating as the paint is scuffed from toys and it needs a bit of fresh life injecting in to it.
Trouble is, my eldest son wants wrestling and my youngest son wants little einsteins. How can I give each of them what they want without it looking mismatched.
I'm struggling for colour ideas too as their room is always either a soft blue or green.
They have bunk beds and lots of trofast storage, but im struggling to incorporate a homework space for my elder son, i cant really use a desk and stool as my cheeky younger son uses it to climb on.
How do you organise a shared room so they both get what they need?

;hiya - we just put our boys in a shared room - age 4 and 6 so have similar tastes - but we just kept the walls/curtains etc plain and bought some character canvases to put on the walls and character bedspreads. This means the decor can be changed easily when they tire of something and the canvases look quite classy.MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

Does it matter if things don't match? If you're giving them a choice - let them choose. Otherwise don't give them a choice and decide yourself what you want their room to look like..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
Why not go for blue as this could run as a theme for both (Smackdown is blue as is little einstein's) - a nice John Cena bedspread and a few pictures of his fave wrestlers on the wall would look fab - same with little einsteins, which i'm afraid i know nothing about!!
Why not give little one his own little desk - that way he can climb as much as he likes!!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -

I would second this. Paint the walls simple and easy to maintain (keeping some paint back for upkeep due to more scuffs etc) and have the personality pieces as bedding / wall hangings.
Is the room big enough to have a corner allocated to each child? This way the eldest can have a desk and the youngest could have a seperate play corner and they can learn to respect the boudaries of each other's spaces. If the desk is next to the bed then there would also be the temptation to climb on it to reach the bunk (I would at that age), so keep it away from the bunk.0 -
does it matter if it matches?! its for the kids not for you. when i was little my mum did one wall with horsey wallpaper and the rest with princess wallpaper cos me and my sister couldnt agree - we loved it at the time - but looking back it didnt match AT ALL!!
failing that - i agree with above - do the walls plain and give them bedspreads with whatever they want and then some posters/pictures of their own.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

Does the eldest need a desk in his room yet? My son (almost 9) has one and never uses it he does all his homework downstairs instead.
Vertbaudet were doing a wall mounted desk that had a drop down shelf to use, but I've just looked in their current on-line catalogue and can't find it, so assume it's been discontinued though I suppose you could try e-bay.0 -
We have a bunk bed for our boys, each has a different themed duvet cover & matching stickarounds on the wall above their bed. It's very easy to change. The rest of the room is painted in cream WASHABLE paint, & we have lots spare for touching up - not that there is much wall visible after the bed & wardrobes & windows! We've recently put in a large wardrobe for each boy, with lots of room for both clothes & toys. Other than that, they have a bean bag each (as the little one likes to climb too), & curtains, which are both in a plain colour. Homework is done downstairs at the dining table, so that we can supervise or help.0

Hi
I agree with some of the suggestions so far in that children's tastes change quickly so keeping the walls plainish and making a theme of bedding/curtains is a good idea. Also how about fixing a couple of boards (1 for each child) to a wall or door or cupboard and painting it with blackboard paint. Then each child can create their own drawing of the latest "in thing".
Good Luck

Does anyone know a good place to get stickarounds? I am looking to decorate for DS who is six. He has sadly outgrown the Thomas the Tank theme!0
