Electric and new shower

Hello,
I am wanting to fit a new electric Shower into my bathroom.
We already have a double pole pull switch with on off label and neon light hanging from the bathroom ceiling and checked in the attic and the switch seems all wired in and there is wire there for it to be connected to a shower.
It looks like the old occupants used to have a shower at some point but cannot find any plumbing work to prove this only the pull switch in the bathroom and that being wired in.
The consumer unit downstairs does have a space which doesn't have a fuse/rcd thing in which I'm guessing is connected to the shower pull switch.
The question I'm asking is do i need a certified electrician to fit the shower or as its already connected to the consumer unit can i go ahead and connect up the shower myself?

I think you'll need to get a certified electrician due to it being in a bathroom.0

Hiya
You really, really should get someone in who knows what they are doing. Wiring up a shower is quiet a complex job, & I'm sure you'd prefer to sleep easy at night;) knowing its been done right.
Water, Electricity & Inexperience don't mix:eek: .
Just for info though a new shower needs RCD protection either at your Consumer unit or on a seperate shower unit. Wiring is typically done in 6mm or 10mm depending on rating of shower, its location & what the wiring will pass through to get there. The shower needs to be commissioned in accordance with the manufacturers instructions, otherwise the warranty may be void. There should be an isolation switch either wall mounted or pull cord types & again there are regs on where these can go.

ask your landlord if the place has been rewired recently...ours was, and was prewired for a shower but not plumbed for one.
Got one fitted when I persuaded him to refit the bathroom as it was a state..0
