Primus Savers want to tie you with a contract

Hi

I emailed Primus to ask if I took the saver package (CPS) would I be tie to a contract and was told no just 30 days notice.

I phoned to join but they said 18 months contract, then went to 12 months then to 6 months. But kept on saying I Have to be tied to 6 months. I told them about the email but they wouldn't have it.

Any advice how I can sign to Primus Saver without be in a 6 months contract

Their ts + cs allow customers to leave with 30 days notice.
11.1 Without prejudice to their rights under this Agreement Primus Telecommunications Ltd and the Customer shall have the right to terminate this Agreement forthwith in the event that: .....................
11.1.3 either party serves not less than 30 days written notice of termination upon the other.

HOWEVER, this condition can be overridden if a promotional package requiring a minimum commitment is used.

Not according to the ts + cs.

They say that if you take up any promotion, then separate conditions will apply, and they will write separately to you with these:
Any such promotion will be available subject to such terms and conditions as Primus Telecommunications Ltd notify to the Customer in writing

Thanks, I followed up on my email and again got a reply 30 days notice I can leave.

This morning I phoned to sign, after giving all the details, I was told 18 months contract, I said no then 12 months, I said I have an email stating no contract just 30 days notice, was told that was before, I said the email was from yesterday.

I was told they will make a note of the email and follow it up. I have been signed up, wait and see.

I made sure it was just CPS and I am staying with BT with line rental. Here hoping for the best

  • They did the same to me last week - exactly what you said. Tried to get 18 months contract, then 12, then 6. Said no to all and they agreed. Got to be careful !!!
  • I've been waiting for the paperwork for over 2 weeks with them, a little slow. Called them and they said contract will arrive!!

You have to be very firm with them, and tell them you want sign up for
Free Evening And Weekend calls only . No monthly rental. No long contract.

You don't need to get your landline with Primus to be able to get the free weekend and evening calls.

    Same here - slow !
  • I spent two days calling the sales number in January, sat on hold for ages every time. Finally I emailed them and asked if they actually wanted business or not - I received an email in reply with an 0800 number to call. Called that and set up the account - that was January 22nd.

Cut to today - Feb 23rd. I haven't had any communication at all from Primus - no letters, no emails, no calls. Nothing from BT or Euphony (who I've been using) either. So I called Primus again.

I spoke to someone (a feat in itself when the lines to them are *always* so bad) who said the service was active, but when asked when it had been activated, I was asked to hold, and then told there was a "small problem with the account" and transferred to another department. Then I was told they'd call me back "in one minute".

    Fast-forward 20 minutes - still no call-back.

Phoned Primus again and said what the **** is going on? I was told that the service was *not* active, and could I hold for two minutes. I stayed on hold, and the person came back and said the lines to the department I needed were busy, but he'd sent them an email to ask them to call me as soon as possible. I said if they didn't call by 10.40 a.m. (12 minutes away), they could forget it.

    They didn't call.

I've now phoned to cancel my request for service - that alone took over half an hour! - and have also emailed them to ensure it's done. I'm thinking I might also phone BT (line provider) to make sure any CPS request from Primus is refused.

Primus couldn't even get my phone-number right - I had to repeat it 17 times over the course of three phone-calls because they would repeatedly get it wrong.

Over the course of all these calls, I've listened to the recorded message dozens of times: "Do you want to project a more professional image to the outside world?" Oh, the irony.
