BOS Bank charges financial hardship...discrace!

Hi all,i decided to claim back my bank charges after learning of the fsa financial hardship waiver as we are awaiting court proceeding with view to eviction for rent arrears,we are obvious financial hardship,my partner is self employed with a very low income as it`s a new business and it`s seasonal, anyway filled in the financial statement and posted off copies of all debt letters and court letters from council on the 28th December,i was told to call today and was told they have sent out a letter offering ONE MONTHS bank charges and a stop to any further charges......i am fuming:mad: they are taking advantage as they know how desperate a situation i am in,we have two kids and are facing eviction so desperately need the money to pay the rent arrears and avoid eviction, the bank are well aware that time is running out for us and they also know that going to the FOS will take time we haven`t got.......I am disgusted by the way they have treated me...."fairly and sympathetically"??I DON`T THINK SO!Not sure what to do next.....

Your bank is behaving better than most. Halifax have told me they will not look at the case for hardship because the account is closed, how pathetic.

I have complained to the FOS and I suggest you do the same, be aware that it takes a while.
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T
  • It really is disgusting the way banks are trying to worm out of paying out.....my predicament is that by the time the FOS take to deal with it we will be homeless
  • I shall wait till the letter comes today and then think about my next move.....i hate the way the bank seem to be taking advantage of my current situation rather than treating me fairly and sympathetically as they are meant to do.I feel like going to my local branch and giving them what for:mad:

Hi Donna, l really feel for you, my OH's selfemployed too, and we were trying hard to manage on his diminishing income, our bank did give us about a third of what we asked for but like you it was'nt enough to help us out off the immediate situation, when the letter arrives why dont you try phoning them and see if they can offer some more. Also are you getting any benefits that you're entitled too? There's a website called entitletoo and it does estimate what you could possibly claim, are you getting working families tax credit etc?
Good Luck and let us know how you get on.

  • Well, HBOS are the worst bank I have ever had to deal with when it comes to "hardship". I would normally hope they go bust but that would prolly just mean more of our tax would be used by the government to bail them out. How about bailing us out MISTER BROWN!
:j Got the loan and now down from £9k to £4.5k. Trying to get a better mortgage deal now but thanks to ex-husband I am being knocked back..... Still in a better place than two years ago. Have faith!:j

I don't think you can go straight to court. All court cases are stayed.

Are you getting Housing benefit or nowadays LHA and council tax benefit?

Might be worth a benefit check with CAB to be sure you are getting all the help you can. Is there any possibility of you getting a job while your husband has so little work?
  • I am a full time Mum and at present unable to work due to health issues,we are getting partial hb/ctb.I believe the law in Scotland differs slightly and i am able to go to court under the circumstances.

I received a message today on my answering machine from the bank asking me to call and when i did i was told that as i was unhappy with the offer yesterday over the phone they had asked for the offer to be reviewed and will be in contact in the next few days they asked if i could disregard the offer letter which i received today and they will contact me asap.I shall wait and see what their next move is....
  • My case will be reviewing on the 11th feb and i will be contacted by phone to let me know what the next offer is.
