One of the wisest things I ever read on here was by Jacks xxx :A saying that a person had x amount to pay out on essentials ( ie mortgage, council tax etc) & that it was entirely up to them how they spent the remaining x amount.
Aww honey I feel very wise right now (grasshopper.
)
I feel compelled to point out that I was well into my thirties and very very deep in debt doo doo when I (finally:o ) had this epiphany. :rolleyes:
It was all part of realising that we were in control of our finances - and not the banks or credit companies.
First of all it was hard, because we realised we'd made a lot of possibly unwise choices. :eek:
But ultimately it was a good thing to be in control, cos then we realised that we were not helpless. We could make changes. We could improve.
It might be cos I'm a self confessed control freak,but it makes me feel better to know that the spending decisions I make on a daily basis make a difference.
We're *this close* to being debt free almost exactly two and half years after my LBM and that's due in no small measure to this board and the blummen incredible DFWs who post on it.
I really wish I'd made a word document of all the really helpful things that I've read on here. All of MSE is fab, but DFW is a truly remarkable place.
God. What's with me and the early morning essays this week?!
My mum is having her op this morning so this beats pacing up and down the hallway I guess.
I've had 4 NSDs so far this month but today is going to be a spend day cos I'll pick up some magazines for Mum.
I expect she'll be woozy all day today but once she "comes to" a bit it won't be long before she's bored out of her skull stuck in a hospital bed.
Have a great day guys!
Love Jacks xxx
PS Mum and I have front row tickets at a John Barrowman gig in May and we're both expecting it! :rotfl:Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -
yesterday was my first nsd, as i have been away most of the week. thanks to all the inspiring people who are helping me take control! Today i am making a birthday present for friends birthday, instead of buying her something, which i would never have thought of before i began this journey.0
