What constitutes a "troll"? Not sure what I'm looking for...
Ugly little things that live under bridges 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
agreed.
It 'seems' some posters from the past have resurfaced with new identities to cause trouble.
You don't bother changing yours, are you lazy? :rotfl:'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
I welcome the trolls, and enjoy the full spectrum of debate.
Nothing to fear.
I will never use ignore as I persoanly find it a little childish.
I'm with you to a certain extent Conrad, especially if the use of the Ignore button is fanfared on the board and then that person continues to respond to posts made by the person they put on ignore.
I never put anyone on ignore simply because I don't agree with them or because they get the better of me in an argument (not that anyone ever has), I use the ignore button to save time. Basically, there are a few posters on here who post drivel or one line abusive comments and absolutely nothing else. In the case of these people, you're much better off having them on ignore, making the thread that little bit shorter and quicker to read.
My 'Ignore list' stands at:
WISHIWASRICH
blisk
dervish
experience08
fatpig
When I see that they have posted I never click the 'show post' button simply because I know it's not worth the effort to click the button and move my eyes over the text.
I noticed that blisk has actually been PPR'd so I guess he can come off the list...Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

Total Mortgage Debt: £149,723.30 / £104,313.57 / Δ £45,409.730 -
It would be a waste of time changing my addy on here.....everyone would recognise the ......... in my posts.
Oh and my silly words.
I have no-one on ignore, I like to see what everyone is saying, it helps to work out who the idiots are.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I've missed all of this because I've been on holiday in the States (ouch). Thankfully got my big purchases out of the way before the pound slid yet further.
I don't know what to make of the Jim Rogers issue. I saw him speak at the IEA about 5 years ago on the Adventure Capitalist tour and enjoyed both that and Investment Biker. Back then he was in his having a downer on Russia stage and telling everyone to invest in commodities. Some of this was good advice, some wasn't but the average person on the street - as Gen (I think) says - won't have heard of him before and don't realise that he can be the investment community's equivalent of a 'shock jock'.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? i dont see the point of calling posters trolls, their motivation for making a post doesnt make the content any less debatable, than someone playing devils advocate. it just degrades humanities ability to have an open minded dicussion and relay our individual point of view.
in effect telling people to ignore trolls is telling people to ignore thir own opinion & refrain from expressing it by not replying.
people shouting troll, always reminds me of the life of brian for some reason.0 -
I almost broke my promise to myself and posted on Islandannies thread (the only person I have ever nominated for the most hated poster).
Thanks Gen you brought me back from the point of no return :-)I'll have some cheese please, bob.0
