What is it?

Options
when i'm using my pc for internet browsing, I get what appears to be a window closing IFYKWIM, but there is nothing there. Just a sort of flash through the screen.

Is this a problem of some sort or just my pc acting up.

hope someone can understand what i'm gibbering on about.

do you notice a new tab to the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, usually this happens when you get a pop under, the screen flashes as if a window has closed, but on the toolbar you have a new tab.
Sometimes i surprise myself by being right.

oh i see. i find it generally helps if you speak English.

Sounds suspiciously like a pop under or else it's spyware playing up - always worth a scan and see what's running start up.

Sorry for not speaking English! Its just that with a toddler sometimes postin in shorthand is easier than typing out the full words.:o

Anyway, I have not noticed any new tabs opening in the toolbar, so it doesn't sound like a pop under. Not that i've ever heard of that before:confused:

I will try a scan then and see if that helps.

I'm running Avast at the moment, can this be a problem?

    Thanks for your speedy replies.

    hi ForeverSkint

Disconnect your pc from the internet and then see if you get an error message from the flashing closing screen - or if it hangs around. I don't mean error message from IE saying can't connect.

Have a look in task manager task list Before you do web browsing or even open your browser - right click over the bar at bottom of screen or do Cltr+Alt+Del. See what processes begin as you open your browser or if you have processes with short 4 letter names and maybe numbers.

Usual questions have you firewall ? Anti-virus ( upto date )? 3 versions of Anti-spyware (Adware, spy-bot and MS anti )
Update all 4 then or free download them - Boot to safe mode and run all 4 scans if you do. reboot to normal mode and then run a firewall checker to see if you may have any trojan ports open http://www.grc.com/

Not that I think anything is a miss

    You should ideally have..

MS Antispyware (Its not as bad as peeps think)
    Spybot Search and Destoy
    AdAware

But if you are going to buy one Id reccomend Webroots Spysweepr as said.

if I was going to recommend another must have programme it would be Trojan Remover by simplysup.com

For a very small one off fee (about £13 I think) you get updates on defs and versions for life. It is a fabulous programme and worth it for every PC.
