  • As a former Speedferries customer who had a number of outstanding paid trips on a Supervoucher I bought using my credit card when they went bust, I thought the following might be useful: I got an e-mail from Ernst & Young (administrators) in December which wasn't particularly helpful regarding a refund to unsecured creditors. I did however contact HSBC - my Gold credit card supplier and after an exchange of correspondence and quoting Section 75 - they reluctantly refunded £128. If there are other Speedferries customers out there who think they've lost their money after all bookings were cancelled......you do have rights .......if you follow moneyexpert's advice and cite section 75! Bon Voyage

  • Just for clarification and in reply to harryhound:

I bought a Supervoucher from Speddferries in September 2007 paying £192 for 6 trips. When they went bust in November 2008 I had only taken two trips and thought I had lost £128 when I contacted my credit card supplier - HSBC. Unfortunately because Speedferries operated bookings online I was ticketless and the only evidence I had of payment were my booking codes. I also didn't have my printed HSBC Gold card statements, although I did have evidence of the transfer of £192 from my current account to my credit card account. Despite all this HSBC still refunded the £128 because of SECTION 75!!!
