Hawaii Nov 2006

This forum is very thin on Hawaii info. Has anyone found a way of cutting through the minefield of Waikiki hotels to find the best deals?

Use Priceline\Hotwire and look at Condo rentals

I'm going for 10 days in November 2006 (might see you there:beer:)

Condo for two will cost about $80 per day.

Some good 3* Pl hotels cost about $60 per day on Oahu. Maui is more expensive.

    How\when you going?
  • There are only a few hotels that are "actually" on the beach in Waikiki, the others are on the other side of the road. CLICK HERE for a map of Waikiki (you will have to scroll right to find the hotels) We stayed at the Outrigger (no 45)which was fine for us.

Hi S-a-p! You're talking of one of my favourite operators there! But I've never seen them do Hawaii. You're not thinking of Page & Moy are you. They used to do 3 for 2 but stopped it a couple of years ago.

We went a couple of times with them and got really good deals. Their prices now seem way over the top.

We know Hawaii but I'm getting bored with tackling hotels one at a time. And then having to check with Trip Adviser if they're any good! Also, most agencies seem to quote over the hotels' own web prices!

Might have a go at Hotwire/Priceline.

Check out the historical data at this site for prices and likely hotels.

Similarly Betterbidding has data on both Hotwire and PL Hotels and rates

Things to watch out for are the 'Resort fee' of $15 or more per day at some hotels + the cost of parking can be $12 or more per day.

Condo rental can be worth it as some give a day free and no cleaning fee if one books for over say 7 days.

See my BMI credit card thread for how to get a cheap fare.

Don't like Hotwire - anonymous hotels!

How do you get an extended stay on Priceline this far in advance?

The Betterbidding site link has info on how to spot the Hotwire hotels.

Not sure what you mean by extended stay- over 30 days??

You can bid up to 330 days in advance (I think) but of course if the hotel hasn't given PL it's allocation then you have to wait.

All part of the fun of getting a posh hotel cheaply.
