Annoying Barclays

I have started proceeding to claim back large charges from Barclays. I followed guide on main site and requested charges in appropriate manner. Barclays got back to me and claimed that in the past six years I have had £30 worth of charges back in 2007. I have actually had about £400 - £500 in the past 6 - 8 months.
I dashed into my local branch who confirmed I have had more than the £30 that was sent to me, but they could not deal with the enquiry. I was told that my "complaint" would be delt with and I should receive a call.
Has anyone else had these pathetic tactics applied to them? I find it all a joke that they would stoop this low. When so many are in serious financial hardship the banks have a due right to act in a manner that represents their status in society. The letter I received back from them is more like a school student, clutching on straws, as they try and convince their teacher that the dog really did eat the homework they spent so many hours on the night before.
