Free shipping at misco

  • Just been on to Misco via VoipCheap (free calls to UK landlines) and via Saynoto0870.com to get their switchboard number, thanks to tomos42 for reminding me about this

A very slow but helpful chap at the other end looked at my "order request" and confirmed that I should not have free delivery but would put through request to refund the delivery charge

I think the slowness was caused by their checking the original email sent to me to make sure I had not doctored it

    We await developements
Only time will tell if I am right or they are wrong

Well, this has got me annoyed. Looking at the following page, http://www.misco.co.uk/specialoffers/paypal, there are the following terms and conditions.
The Free Shipping offer applies to orders placed with misco.co.uk by PayPal customers. The free shipping offer is valid on orders placed from 26th January until 10th February 2006. The free shipping offer is valid in the United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland, Republic Of Ireland and Channel Islands) only. No other orders are eligible for the free shipping offer. Free shipping refers to our standard 3-day delivery service. For Misco's full terms and conditions of trading, please visit https://www.misco.co.uk/tandc
There is no mention of having to access the site via PayPal or special links. I placed an order for £20 going directly to the Misco site, chose 3-day delivery and paid by PayPal. I have been charged the £5+VAT for carriage but have sent an email to the Customer Services. I would have thought that if you pay by PayPal then by definition you are a PayPal customer, as per the T&Cs. Lets see what Misco say.

Also, note the offer runs until 10th Feb, not 3rd Feb as an earlier poster said.

As an update to one of my previous posts:
I ordered an item from Misco (through Quidco) a couple of days ago, and it appears that Misco only pay Quidco (and you) 4% on the total amount MINUS delivery AND VAT.

So if the free delivery link is still working, anything over £95.08* should be done through Quidco and anything less will be cheaper by claiming free delivery through PayPal.

    Tom

    *As before £111.72 + £5.88 shipping = £117.60, 5% of which = £5.88
    But now £111.72/1.175 = £92.08

Email arrived headed "order aknowledgement" (after goods had been dispatched) showing £5.00 delivery charge, problem

    Items arrived no problem

MSE'ers beware, I have sent email to Misco, refuse to use their 0870 number, that was yesterday and their silence has been deafening

I would be interested to know how others have fared

I WOULD NOT TOUCH MISCO WITH A BARGE POLE...THEY ARE A NIGHTMARE...GOT A FAULTY PRINTER OFF THEM FOR MY BUSINESS AND NEARLY HAD TO TAKE THEM TO COURT TO GET IT REPLACED....

They do have terrible customer service, I had issues with their Greenock warehouse : http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=618859&postcount=10

Received my monitor on time, no problems. No dead pixels.
I also volunteer in a school, who get a lot of equipment from Misco and they've never had any problems.

Luck of the draw I guess...

Now I understand why the delivery is free - my parcel has obviously been taped to the back of a tortoise which was let loose and pointed in the general direction of my house. So much for my order acknowledgement of 7 days ago which has !!!3 DAY DELIVERY!!! plastered all over it. :(

UPDATE: Sent a snotty email and got a reply saying the item is out of stock (wasn't when I ordered it), but they will ship it when it gets back into stock on 6th MARCH!! Good job I checked because they never bothered to tell me it wasn't coming. I think I'll stick with Dabs for now and pay the postage.
