sending to Reunion Island help

I have just had this message from a potential buyer:

"could you please tell me how much this will cost to send it to reunion island french overseas department?
thanks in advance"

I have never heard of it. Is it in France? an island owned by France? So Europe postage? or not.

I haven't got to send to such a remote location before.

If you put the address in google maps, you may be able to get an ariel view of the building

As for postage, if you use the Royal Mail price checker, Reunion is in the list of overseas locations:

Reunion is a department in France (ie is classed as being part of France similar to a county in the UK). I'm pretty sure P+P is the same as if for France (just check). I have posted to Reunion before all went well but can take a bit of time.

This is a remote island and is expensive to ship directly to. I have had orders there several times.

NORMAL post can be sent via France as Reunion is a French foreign territory - much like you can use Royal Mail to Jersey even though it is not part of the UK, hence buyers from Reunion sometimes try and claim that their address is in France and even supply an address with France as the country in an attempt to get cheap shipping.

However anything over 2KG needs to go via courier and is EXPENSIVE - get a quote.

Looks like it will be £4.97 without tracking, or £8.47 with limited tracking. There are cheaper options, but they will take nearly 2 months to be delivered
