    Have you read those links?
I use sandboxie but its only for windows. What will it simplify?

To run a VM you're throwing away a bucket load of memory to simply abstract away from your current OS. Sandboxie uses a negligible amount of memory, it's quicker, and it has all the features it seems you want to be able to safely use Internet banking.
  • HBOS online runs fine with Linux, using Firefox or Opera.

Firefox has a plug in that can make it IE for those sites that don't like Firefox, called IE Tab I think. Would that work with Linux?

Nope - because all it does (under windows) is create a 'naked' IE window, and places it within a FF tab. Since Linux doesn't have IE installed, IETab can't create one.

What it doesn't do is emulate IE.

Nationwide works fine using Firefox on my Mac; I don't see why it wouldn't work on Linux too.

I tried to use the ParcelFarce website yesterday, and it told that because my PC was running Linux, they didn't want my business. I tried a different part of their website just now, and it says I must use IE6 or later or go elsewhere.

    So I used Interparcel instead.

It seems extraordinary that the management at Parcelfarce are prepared to turn away perhaps 15% of all potential customers just so that their IT department can have an easy life...

Just use Microsoft Internet Explorer - no more problem.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

I didn't know you could run IE natively under Linux.

I could of course use Virtualbox, but I can't be bothered to do that just so that the ParcelFarce web developers can take it easy.

    Interparcel is usually cheaper anyway.
