I'm so fed up, applying to everything with no response!

Agencies were a waste of time with me. I registered with 10 different agencies, once I had registered I never heard from them. I rang them all once a week with nothing back. Waste of time if you ask me. Especially as I had to pay £5 a time to go up and register for nothing.
I applied for 15 jobs a day plus, including bar work, supermarket or shop work.
I was also doing a part time qualification and charity work to show I was doing something in the meantime. Also would be good to get someone professional to look at your CV. There are people willing to help at the Jobcentre. No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -
I, too, am in the same boat. I am with a company that gives resources to help jobseekers, and give free advice, but even tho I sent out application after application, and spec letter after spec letter, I am getting nowhere. It is after Christmas and a very difficult time. You can get a work trial, which might lead to a job, but you have to meet the conditions. I think, you just have to be out of work for 6 months, but I don't know. I qualify because of disabledment. Apparently being a diabetic is a disablement, but if it helps.....Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money but you can't get more time0

I am really getting frustrated now  I have been out of work for 2 months now.
I understand this is a bad time to be job searching but I'm getting so fed up. I'm really skint and in debt so I have to get something, I have to keep going and searching but sometimes I feel like it's worthless. I'm applying for at least 2 jobs every day and have done this for the last 3 weeks. This might not sound a lot but there is nothing really around at the moment. Not a single company, employer or person has responded to my applications and this is what is really getting to me!! I'm trying so hard, taking a long time to make sure my application form is the best it can be or my cv is up to scratch, I put a lot of effort into doing this and I don't even get a response.
I am on JSA as off 2 weeks ago. I understand at some point they will ask for evidence of my job searches, not only my diary but further proof ie rejection letters, emails I've sent to employers etc etc. Now I'm maybe looking to far into the future but how am I meant to show what I'm doing when I'm not getting responses from employers? For all the JC know I could be telling them a pack of lies, telling them I've applied for stuff when I have not.
Are you fed up too? What can I do to get really motivated again?
the jc dont really care and dont have time to check all your applications. as long as you say you have applied its ok. They would be there forever if they had to go through everything with everyone. They basically take your word for it. Just write it down somewhere.
Good luck.:footie:0 -
Make the most of your contacts, friends and families. Many job vacancies are filled before they are advertised by people being in the right place at the right time.0

Some job centre staff are helpful, and have been trained to offer useful advice. See if you can book an appointment with an adviser there, to go through the kind of job you are targetting and to look at your applications. Also ask about Job Clubs and other ways in which they can support you.
Personally, I spend at least three days doing each application. I get interviewed for nearly half the jobs for which I apply. However, I have been unemployed for 18 months with no offers, so maybe I'm not the best person to give advice.0 -
I have been unemployed for 4 weeks on friday and have applied for around 30 jobs (haven't been any new ones in the past week!!) and have heard back from 1 to say thanks but no thanks! It is sooo frustrating! I'm lucky though, as my FIL2B works in a supermarket and has got someone in every department to let him know if there are jobs. Apparently they don't hire until the new tax year, so unless a lot of other companies are waiting for then too?
I have a new found love for Jeremy Kyle
The friends and families tip is good btw

Sorry to hear your predicament. My Dad always said when I was younger and looking for work that every no is in one nearer to a yes, I know this doesn't help you with paying the bills. Why don't you get a good pair of walking shoes on and print of your CV and go and visit business' in your area. at the moment if you want work you have to stand out from a large crowd. Going in and seeing these people face to face can only show that you have confidence. Good luck and I am sure that something will come up soon. Just incase you haven't tried there are a couple of websites that I chck everyday civillianjob.mod.uk and serco.com give these a try.0

keep with it- new year, new possibilities etc! re JSA diary thing, just keep details of numbers called, addresses that cv's and applications sent to etc, with copies if they ask for them at a later stage.
even put down whatever shops/offices etc you may have gone into, asking if any work.. doubtful they could prove you didnt, unless they have the time / urge to check all the cctv..!Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Reading this is a mixed bag of despair, frustration, hope, perseverance and success.
Unfortunately, I fall into the former group where 4 months of daily registering, searching, applying, calling and praying have all come to nought. The redundancy last October came as a total surprise but i should have guessed - a sacking is a good as a sale when shareholders want a better dividend! Double whammy was that it came in the same month we bought our new house. (Other forums here are littered with my last 2 years of housing market "despair, frustration, hope, perseverance and success". All on the back following a previous redundancy in 2006!)
I've over 20 search engines spamming me daily with jobs (including the newspapers), registered with over 40 recruitment agencies, lowered my expectations and type of work dramatically to try and plug some holes in a sinking bank account, widened my geographical aims to long and expensive commutes (there are personal reasons why working away is a constraint), tried countless speculative applications to a focused set of employers, pestered friends, explored LinkedIn and Plaxo trails, gone through entire trade association company lists looking at the vacancies section and generally surfed from one link of potential hope to another.
I've a log of over 120 applications, now past their "assume dead" date because precious few people have ever written back with any acknowledgment let alone feed-back! My calls and emails seem to auto-filter into their junk folder. Agency goals are to fill vacancies not to care if I'm unemployed. (In fact, headhunting is a better bargaining position to them.) Anyway, nett result is still zero save a couple of excellent interviews (but both losing their recruitment budget before a decision was made). I don't have any issues with the Job Center.
I've an Excel spreadsheet showing when we must sell this house that took us two years to get and columns that show when we need to cash in insurance policies to stretch out the futility. So, I guess with "despair, frustration, hope, perseverance and success" I can now add an unhealthy dose of cynicism. We, my wife and I, are nearly destroyed by all this. But it's the nearly bit that jump starts my cursed optimism to do it all again tomorrow. As far as my profession, I'm damned good at what I do - I just wish I could do it again. Thanks for kicking this thread off - its helped ease my headache.
Best,
Phil0
